“One of the highlights to date has been to be a keynote speaker at the Association of Professional Executives in the Public Sector of Canada's Wellness Conference for Black Women Executives
The most important thing I have learned in my journey as a wellness practitioner is the 3 Ls: Listen, Learn, and Laugh. Each client has allowed me to listen to their story, and with each interaction, I learn something new about the client, about the nutrition practices and about myself. And being an entrepreneur has shown me the power of laughter, as sometimes things don't always work out as you hoped, but the process helps you build resilience, and you get to laugh at yourself, too.
A piece of advice I would offer to a C.H.N.C. or R.H.N. who is just starting out is f you are a person of a certain age (over 50), as I came to become a R.H.N. later in life, my best piece of advice would be that it is never too late to consider a career change into holistic nutrition. And no matter what age,, your empathy, resilience, self-awareness, and passion for nutrition make you an effective practitioner. And lean into being uncomfortable and making mistakes - that is the best way to learn.
One of the best things about being a member of the CSNNAA is the community. When I graduated, I didn't just receive a certificate; I became a part of a national network of wellness professionals whose achievements have and continue to inspire me in my career.”
