September is FASD Awareness Month, a time to build greater understanding and strengthen how we support people with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and their families.

We’re proud to share that Emily Jones, a Registered Psychotherapist with Bethesda Children and Youth Services, will be presenting at the 6th Annual London & Region FASD Virtual Conference on October 20 and 21.

Emily’s session, “FASD and Mental Health,” will explore the connection between FASD and mental health. She’ll share practical, evidence-informed strategies caregivers and professionals can use to support children and youth through trauma-informed care, co-regulation, predictable environments and strength-based approaches.

The session will also explore how these supports can help build confidence, agency, resilience and emotional well-being.

Sometimes connection looks like a walk and a good conversation. Sometimes it looks like goat yoga. 🐐

Mood & Mingle is a therapeutic social group offered through Bethesda’s Adult Clinical Services. Through different topics and shared activities, the group supports emotional growth, social skills, and connection.

In July, the group headed outside for Walking and Talking. In August, they tried something a little different with goat yoga at Triple C Farm

Here are a few moments they’ve shared along the way.

Please join us in celebrating Mike Jeffery, Manager of the Community Response Program, on 25 years with Bethesda!

Over the past 25 years, Mike has grown from a part-time employee into a respected leader, building meaningful relationships and helping make a difference in the lives of the people we support.

Mike’s reflection on his career captures what makes his 25 years so special: while he set out to make a difference, the people he has supported have had an equally lasting impact on him.

Thank you, Mike, for 25 years of dedication, leadership, and commitment to the Bethesda community. We’re grateful for everything you bring to the people you support and the teams you lead. Congratulations on this incredible milestone!

Behind every meaningful milestone are the people who helped make it possible.

As Bethesda Children and Youth Services celebrates 25 years of supporting children, youth, families, and caregivers across Niagara, we're taking time to recognize the acts of compassion and collaboration that have strengthened our community along the way. We're looking for stories that highlight the people who have made a difference, whether through a simple act of kindness, ongoing support, or a partnership that helped a child, youth, or family thrive.

Twenty-five stories will be selected and recognized during Bethesda's 25th Anniversary Open House on October 1, 2026.
