If you’re struggling with chronic pain, The Way Out by Alan Gordon Alan Gordon, LCSW is a book I genuinely recommend.

Alan Gordon is one of the pioneers of Pain Reprocessing Therapy Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), and this book offers a practical, science-informed approach to understanding how the brain and nervous system can contribute to persistent pain, even when there is no ongoing tissue damage.

It was also one of the books that helped bring the mindbody approach to chronic pain into the mainstream.

Healing isn’t only about turning down fear. It’s also about giving your brain more experiences of safety, connection, pleasure, and joy.

Laughing with someone you love. Getting lost in a hobby. Listening to music. Trying something new. Having moments where you’re so engaged in life that you forget to check how you’re feeling.

These moments aren’t separate from recovery. They’re part of it.

The goal isn’t just to spend less time afraid of your symptoms. It’s to spend more time living.

✨ “From chronic pain to freedom, Scotty’s story is nothing short of transformative.” - Nicole Sachs Nicole Sachs, LCSW

In this episode of Nicole Sachs’ podcast The Cure for Chronic Pain, I share my journey through a lifetime of symptoms that seemed to have no end: back, neck, foot, and arm pain, anxiety, depression, and more. Despite endless medical treatments, nothing seemed to stick. But when I stumbled upon Dr. Sarno’s work and Nicole’s teachings, everything clicked.

Tune in for a raw and real conversation about the power of TMS healing, how fear kept me stuck, and the pivotal moments that sparked my shift.

If you’re struggling with chronic pain, this episode will remind you that change is possible. 💪✨”

Your brain is wired to scan for danger—but you can gently teach it to look for safety instead.

✨ Right now, pause and ask yourself:
• Is there a warm spot of sunlight nearby?
• A soft blanket within reach?
• A breath that feels just a little easier than the last?

No moment of comfort is too small to notice. In fact, it’s these tiny, ordinary moments that retrain your nervous system to feel safe again.

Linger there. Let your awareness rest on what feels good. Because what you focus on… grows. 🌱

Try it today—and tell me in the comments, what’s one small, good thing you noticed? 👇

✨ You know your body is safe... but does your brain truly believe it?

One of the biggest reasons people stay stuck isn’t because they lack information. It’s because their brain may still be predicting danger, even when you consciously know you’re safe.

Thoughts like:

• “What if this never goes away?”
• “What if I’ve missed something serious?”
• “What if I’m the exception?”

These predictions can keep your brain and nervous system in protection mode.

Your body responds not only to what’s happening, but also to what your brain predicts is happening.

Healing isn’t about forcing yourself to think positively.
It’s about helping your brain learn that you are safe.

If you’re looking to go deeper, The Pain Elimination Coaching Program goes far beyond this, and there’s much more we can work through together.

Recovery doesn’t mean tuning your body out. It means changing the relationship you have with it.

When every sensation feels like a warning, your brain stays on high alert. But when you can notice what’s happening without immediately assuming something is wrong, you give your nervous system a chance to learn something new.

Your body doesn’t need less attention. It needs less fear.

✨ Self-compassion isn’t just some “woo woo” fluffy idea meant to make us feel better.

It’s a scientifically supported practice that can actually help reshape the brain and support healing from neuroplastic symptoms.

When we respond to our sensations, thoughts, and emotions with kindness instead of fear, judgment, or resistance, we create a sense of safety in the nervous system.

This helps us move toward radical acceptance, where we can allow our experience to be there without treating it as a threat.

Healing isn’t about fighting ourselves into feeling better. It’s about learning to meet ourselves with compassion, understanding, and safety.

You’re not broken. Your nervous system can learn safety again.
