Nutrition
- Whole foods over processed
- Plenty of vegetables, fruits, protein, and healthy fats
- Stay hydrated (water is underrated)
- Limit sugar, ultra-processed food, and excess salt
Breathing
- Deep, slow breathing activates the parasympathetic (calm) nervous system
- Mouth breathing vs. nasal breathing โ nasal is much better for health
- Practices like box breathing or diaphragmatic breathing reduce stress and improve oxygen use
- Often the most overlooked pillar
Relaxing / Rest
- Sleep is arguably the most powerful recovery tool you have
- Mental rest (downtime, unplugging) is just as important as physical rest
- Chronic stress is directly linked to heart disease, weight gain, and weakened immunity
- Includes hobbies, social connection, and time in nature
Movement
- Doesn't have to mean the gym โ walking is highly underrated
- A mix of cardio, strength, and flexibility is ideal
- Even breaking up long periods of sitting makes a big difference
- Consistency matters far more than intensity
The interesting thing is these four work togetherโ poor sleep wrecks nutrition choices, shallow breathing keeps you stressed, and inactivity disrupts sleep. When all four are dialed in, the effect is compounding.๐
