👟 CANADA, WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU REALLY LOOKED AROUND?

Life gets busy. We rush to work, stare at our screens and sometimes forget the incredible places waiting to be explored right on our doorstep.

But sometimes, all you need is a walk. 🌳🌊🍂

From the beautiful coastlines of British Columbia 🌲 to the stunning lakes of Ontario 💧, the mountains of Alberta 🏔️, the wide open prairies of Saskatchewan and Manitoba 🌾, the breathtaking landscapes of Quebec 🍁, the Atlantic coastlines of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador 🌊, and the incredible wilderness of Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut ❄️ Canada has so much to discover, one step at a time!

Fresh air. Beautiful trails. Hidden gems. New friends. A little more movement in your day. 💙

You don't need expensive equipment. You don't need to be an athlete. You don't even need to walk fast. Just start where you are, walk at your own pace, and enjoy the world around you. 👟🌿

Walking is simple. Walking is free. And it works. 💙

Guild Park walk through pieces of Toronto’s past
🏛️ Toronto Walkaholics Hidden-Gem Walk #2 Guild Park and Gardens

What if your next walk became an outdoor history hunt?

Guild Park and Gardens contains architectural fragments, sculptures and historic buildings. Stone carvings rescued from demolished Toronto buildings now sit among gardens and woodland.

📍 Start Guild Park and Gardens, at the shared Guild Inn Estate address, 201 Guildwood Parkway, Scarborough, ON M1E 1P5.
🏁 Finish Return to the same park entrance, 201 Guildwood Parkway, M1E 1P5.

🚶 Suggested route follow the public garden walkways to explore the architectural collection, seek out the Greek Theatre, then retrace your route to the entrance. The theatre incorporates marble elements from the former Bank of Toronto building.

⏱️ Make it your own Allow 20–40 minutes for a garden-and-sculpture wander, with as many breaks as you need.

📸 Your discovery challenge find one carved detail you would normally walk past. Photograph it and share it with the group.

Keep this version of the walk on the upper garden paths there’s no need to add a shoreline descent. Use public park areas rather than entering the event venue.

THIS FALL, WALK FOR YOUR BODY AND YOUR BRAIN

📍 Kellys Beach Boardwalk, New Brunswick

As the days get cooler and the leaves begin to change, it's a great time to make outdoor walks part of your routine. 💚

Walking offers more than beautiful views. Regular physical activity supports heart health, mobility, mood and healthy aging.

🧠 WALKING AND BRAIN HEALTH

Research highlighted by the Alzheimer Society of Canada links physical activity and social connection with better brain health. Staying active is one of several steps associated with reducing dementia risk. Walking is not a guarantee against Alzheimer's disease or dementia, but it is a positive habit worth building.

💙 A WALK FOR CAREGIVERS, TOO

If you're caring for a loved one, remember your own well-being matters. A gentle walk together offers fresh air, movement and time away from everyday routines. Choose a pace and route suited to both of you.

👟 WHY GET OUTSIDE THIS FALL?

🍂 Keep your body moving and support mobility as you age.
🧠 Support brain health through regular physical activity.
💚 Make time to unwind and support your mood.
🤝 Connect with friends, family or fellow walkers.
🌿 Enjoy nature while building a healthy routine.

You don't need to start with a long walk. Begin at a comfortable pace, take breaks when needed and build up gradually.
