Her school work today, to write a poem. This is what came to her.

It’s cold, windy & rainy out today, so we are taking the day off school. What a day to snuggle on the sofa watching movies ❤️

Ps: look how tall those trees on my street! 👀

You know the saying, cats have nine lives, well that’s true for this little guy.

We are so incredibly blessed he is still with us.

Yesterday he got $4 for book sales & had two $2 coins. He was so happy with himself. I seen the coins in his mouth and talked to him about it being dangerous & dirty & to keep them away from his mouth. He obviously didn’t listen & I should have known better. I thought they were too big to be a choking risk.

An hour or so later, Aisling comes screaming around the house to go to him. Initially we thought he was vomiting, but he was full on choking on the $2 coin. There was panic when realizing it. started doing the Heimlich, I couldn’t do anything. I was panicking, Aisling was losing her mind, a friend who’d stopped by was on to 911.

First pump nothing, second pump nothing, third, forth... and then after what seemed like an eternity, it came out. Rob & Nathan curled up in the corner.

F**k, that was so stressful!

Last night he slept next to me while Aísling sleeps with her daddy. We are all a little traumatized, processing, but finding a lot to be extra super grateful for on this new day. I think today we’ll skip school today, watch a movie, snuggle on the sofa, go sit on the beach and eat ice cream and enjoy the simple moments in life.

Further note:

This isn’t his first time either.

At a party years ago he swallowed a bombón whole and something magic saved him.

Last year he was walking by the pool at our air b&b and tripped into the pool. His feet were stuck on the ground, his head submerged in water, unable to get out.

Another was jumping out in-front of a car in London with Rob.

Falling off a table as a baby...

My boys like a cat with 9 lives, we are at number 5 now I think, but I really don’t want to have to go through another 🙈

On another note: I’m officially out of the as my second workout yesterday was to happen at 8pm, and for obvious reasons that didn’t happen. Rob is still going strong so I will continue with him on food, no alcohol & training.

These two are completely pooped after an entire morning together for the first time ever.

They are always out but usually separated as they were play fighting non stop whenever they were together. That play fighting was following over into their interactions with us and they would want to play fight with us.

It became so much we consider the possibility of rehoming one of them. Thankfully talked me into getting some help from & I’m so thankful he did.

After our first session we could walk them together without them fighting each other and pulling me over.

At our second session we got our new collar yesterday & today they have spent all morning out freely in the home. With a small few corrections they have both learnt how to be in a home without tearing it apart. They are completely exhausted from all the fun, love & play.

10 years ago this could have been my lunch (minus the Apple), 2 pieces of bread with crisps (potato chips for my Canadian/American friends) smashed inside it, a chocolate bar as my side dish, a can of cake as my drink with a cigarette as dessert.

Today (swipe) I’m having eggs on toast, but not my childhood version. This version has Avocado (started eating age 27), beetroot (started eating age 33) and kimchi (started eating age 35/last year).

What changed? I met who was shocked by my food choices. He took me for teppanyaki on our first date, when the chef started throwing prawns out at our table he looked to me & said ‘I’m allergic so I can’t eat, you have to eat them for us both’. I was too embarrassed to say no at a table of 6 strangers and a guy I was only newly dating, but that experience started a change in me that stems way deeper than nutrition. He’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me, quite literally.

The change in who I am is ever evolving , and it is likely my favorite thing ever. I love growing and changing and learning and loving.

Just saying...

Meditation myth:

Meditation is complete silence and stillness

This is what a lot of people think meditation is, and thus avoid it when they don’t get here the moment they sit down. I’ve been practicing meditation for nearly a decade now and it is not what a lot of people think it is. For me, meditation is finding calm. It is learning to soften into the experience. It is acknowledging my mind will wonder, removing judgment of myself for this happening and accepting it happens, then come back to either counting my breaths or repeating a mantra I have taken into my practice.

When we let go of our expectations of something it allows us the opportunity to try it on for size, see if it fits, and lucky for meditation practice it’s not a one size fits all kinda thing. You make whatever modifications you need so the practice fits you.

Some modifications are:
Sitting against a wall
Sitting on pillows
Laying down
Allowing yourself to fall asleep if your tired
Listen to someone talk you through it
Follow your breath

I promise if you remove the expectations, the self judgment of ‘I can’t do it right’ and trust that if your doing it then your doing it right for you, you will find your practice will expand with time and all of a sudden (5 years for me) you find yourself sitting for a full weekend in silence with your mind wondering ‘how did I end up here, in this space with calm and quiet?’.
