Centennial Infant and Child Centre strengthens families and their young children with special needs

Centennial focuses on the individual needs of each child and family through early intervention at home, in our integrated preschool program, and through participation in community programs. Centennial values and builds on the unique abilities and strengths of children with special needs, and encourages all of them to develop the confidence and skills to find their place in the world.

CICC's Hospital-to-Home program walks alongside families from their very first days in the NICU, building confidence and supporting infant development through one of the most uncertain chapters of early parenthood.

Since launching in 2021, H2H has been ranked in the top 1% of programs globally for measurable impact — and is now expanding to St. Michael's Hospital to reach even more families.

The right support at the right time changes everything.

When Melissa first reached out to CICC's Early Intervention program, she was in one of the hardest seasons of her life. Navigating her son Josh's RSV diagnosis and not knowing where to turn.

At CICC, she found the support she was looking for and so much more.
"I was scared and overwhelmed, and honestly, I just wanted things to be 'normal' again. But as we went through Early Intervention, my perspective changed. I started celebrating progress in new ways — not comparing my child to others, but seeing their unique strengths. Now, my hopes and dreams are for my child to feel confident and included. I dream of a world where differences are accepted, and support is just a part of the journey, not a setback. And for myself, I've found a voice I didn't know I had — I want to keep advocating for my child and for others like them."

A mother who came to us looking for help is now a champion for her child and for families just like hers. That's what early intervention makes possible.

Free & Low-Cost Inclusive March Break Fun! 🌸

Planning for March Break? We’ve rounded up some accessible, toddler-friendly, and low-stress activities in Toronto perfect for our little ones (ages 0–5)!

Most of these programs are drop-in friendly, meaning no advanced registration is required—perfect for a spontaneous family outing.

📍 What’s on the list:
Specialized Play: EarlyON Centres for play-based learning and socialising.
City Fun: "Parent and Tot" gym sessions at local Community Centres.
Animal Friends: Gentle, sensory-friendly strolls at Riverdale Farm & High Park Zoo.

“As we do not have family in this country, being part of CICC has made a remarkable difference in our son’s development.”

When Priscilla first joined the Integrated Preschool at Centennial Infant and Child Centre, her hope was simple: support, guidance, and a place where her child could grow.

With encouragement from the CICC team, her son began building his motor skills — first supported in a stander, and now taking steps toward walking independently. He’s also reaching important feeding milestones, showing interest in purées and yogurt.

For Priscilla’s family, CICC has become more than a program. It’s a community.

Last year alone, CICC’s Early Intervention team partnered with close to 400 families across Toronto, and 43 children were enrolled in our Integrated Preschool program — each one supported by a compassionate, highly trained team committed to helping them thrive.

This is what Building Futures. Changing Lives. Strengthening Families. looks like in action.
