Si ce n’est pas le cas, vous n’êtes pas seul. De nombreux Canadiens ignorent ce lien et ne savent pas que plus on consomme d’alcool, plus le risque est élevé.

À l’occasion du Mois de la sensibilisation au cancer du sein, nous partageons ce que nous savons sur l’alcool et le cancer du sein, ainsi que la façon dont les données HEAL recueillies auprès de plus de 10 000 participants peuvent aider les chercheurs à mieux comprendre les habitudes de consommation d’alcool partout au Canada.

Did you know that alcohol consumption is associated with an increased risk of breast cancer?

If not, you're not alone. Many Canadians are unaware of this link, and that the more alcohol you drink, the higher the risk.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we're sharing what we know about alcohol and breast cancer and how HEAL data from over 10,000 participants can help researchers better understand alcohol consumption patterns across Canada.

Lorsque le fils de Jayesh a reçu un diagnostic de cancer dans la trentaine, la vie de sa famille a été boulversée. Heureusement, son traitement s’est avéré efficace. Aujourd’hui, Jayesh, un participant au Manitoba Tomorrow Project, met cette expérience au profit du Comité consultatif des participants (CCP) de CHARM, contribuant ainsi à assurer que la voix des participants soit prise en compte tout au long du processus de recherche. 💜

« Je sais que presque tout le monde connaît quelqu’un qui est aux prises avec une forme quelconque de cancer. J’espère que cette étude mènera à des conclusions en matière de prévention et de traitement du cancer. »

Qu’il s’agisse de donner son avis sur le matériel de l’étude ou de contribuer à la conception d’une bande dessinée désormais incluse dans des centaines de trousses de prélèvement de selles, Jayesh contribue à rendre la recherche plus accessible, plus centrée sur les participants et plus pertinente.

When Jayesh's son was diagnosed with cancer in his 30s, it changed his family's life. Thankfully, his treatment was successful. Today, Jayesh, a participant from the Manitoba Tomorrow Project, brings that experience to the CHARM Participant Advisory Committee (PAC), helping ensure participant voices are reflected throughout the research process. 💜

"I know that almost everyone knows someone who is dealing with some form of cancer. I am hoping this study will lead to some conclusions in cancer prevention and cure."

From providing feedback on study materials to helping shape a comic now included in hundreds of stool collection kits, Jayesh is helping make research more accessible, participant-centered, and impactful.

Depuis le début de l’étude HEAL, environ 7 rappels d’activité sur 10 au sein de nos cohortes comprenaient au moins une activité légère. Merci à tous les participants qui nous aident à comprendre comment l’activité physique s’intègre dans la vie quotidienne. 💙

CanPath is happy to announce the release of its Baseline Spirometry Harmonized Dataset! Researchers in Canada and internationally interested in studying pulmonary function can now access a dataset with baseline data from a diverse population with over 31,000 participants across 3 CanPath cohorts.

Spirometry is one of the most commonly used tests of pulmonary function and the harmonized dataset contains 50 core variables to study lung function, including calculated best results, single best-effort results and expected values.

CanPath is happy to support research to better understand health and disease among Canadians for a future without chronic disease and cancer. We would love to hear from you, for more information regarding this dataset, please contact the CanPath team.
