ARTIST PROFILE: Adrienne Patterson has been an Ontario Educator for many years as a Teacher and Administrator. Her specialization is in Special Education and in the course of her work, she was assaulted repeatedly over a period of time by special needs' students and sustained injuries. For the last decade, Adrienne has been on an extensive healing and recovery journey through Traumatic Brain Injuries and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder sustained in the Workplace. Through all of these challenges, she has gained a great deal of insight into how difficult recovery can be and what enormous resilience, dedication, work, and support it takes to achieve even small gains.

Come see pieces created by Adrienne and many others at our ART ON THE BRAIN expressive art show, running now until June 30. bist.ca/art

On Saturday night, while exiting our Art Show event, attendees were encouraged to look up and see the CN Tower lit blue and green in recognition of Brain Injury Awareness Month. The lighting of the tower has been a meaningful early June tradition for us at BIST, and it was especially great it to coordinate it with the launch of the Art Show this year. πŸ’™πŸ’š

The BIST/OBIA Mix & Mingle is the MUST ATTEND event of June and we’re hosting it again at Chefs Hall! This event has been a very successful celebration of many incredible years of partnerships with our ABI community, as well as raising funds to support the ongoing programs and services of both the Brain Injury Society of Toronto (BIST) and the Ontario Brain Injury Association (OBIA).

Funds raised by this event help to support the many BIST and OBIA programs and services, which include:

β€’ Providing compassionate, personal advocacy and support services to individuals living with acquired brain injury and their families.

β€’ A coordinated voice for our province-wide ABI network and professional and family caregivers on issues impacting the industry.

β€’ Caregiver and survivor workshops, peer support program and monthly community meetings for members and their families.

β€’ Brain Injury Training Programs, such as the Brain Basics e-Learning program, Brock University Certificate Training programs, providing training and information for frontline Healthcare Workers, Caregivers, and others.

Online ticket sales will end on June 1st - book yours at https://obia.ca/events/mix-mingle/.
