Meet some of our Occupational Therapists! 💙

Our OTs support individuals recovering from traumatic injuries, including brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, orthopaedic injuries and amputations. They help patients rebuild independence, adapt to life after injury and safely return to the activities that matter most—from personal care and mobility to work, school and community life.

Through personalized assessments, rehabilitation strategies, assistive devices, home modifications and ongoing support, our OTs help patients navigate recovery with confidence and achieve meaningful goals.

At Myo Health, recovery isn’t only about healing—it’s about helping patients reclaim their independence and quality of life.

Please Help Support Julia’s Recovery ❤️

Julia’s story is one of strength, resilience, and hope.

Following a devastating motor vehicle accident, Julia faced challenges that many believed she would never overcome. Time and time again, she has beaten the impossible, surpassing expectations and proving that determination and perseverance can achieve extraordinary things.

While Julia has made incredible progress, her journey is far from over. Her care needs remain significant, and she continues to require ongoing support, rehabilitation, and assistance as she works toward greater independence.

Throughout it all, Julia has been surrounded by one of the most devoted families and groups of friends imaginable. Their unwavering love, advocacy, and commitment have been instrumental in every milestone she has achieved. Her father made the selfless decision to leave his job to become her full-time caregiver, ensuring she receives the care and support she needs every day.

The financial burden of long-term care, rehabilitation, and daily living expenses continues to be substantial. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help ease that burden and allow Julia and her family to focus on what matters most—her continued recovery.

Please consider donating, sharing this fundraiser, and keeping Julia and her family in your thoughts and prayers.

Together, we can help support Julia as she continues to defy the odds. ❤️

A Moment We’ll Never Forget ❤️

Years ago, we were told this young man would never wake up.

When he defied those odds and regained consciousness, we were told he would never become a functioning, independent individual.

At Myo Health Rehab, we refused to accept those limitations as the final chapter of his story.

Through determination, resilience, family support, and the dedication of our multidisciplinary team—including Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Psychotherapy, case managers and Social Work—we worked together toward goals that many believed were impossible.

Today, he walked through our doors not as a patient, but as a graduate.

He came back to show our team his college diploma—a powerful reminder that prognoses do not define people, and that hope, perseverance, and rehabilitation can change lives.

Stories like this are why we do what we do.

Congratulations on this incredible achievement. We couldn’t be more proud of you and all that you’ve accomplished. 🎓

At our clinic, we have the privilege of supporting individuals whose resilience inspires us every day.

This painting was created by one of our young patients recovering from a motor vehicle accident. After losing functional use of her dominant arm, she had to relearn daily tasks using her non-dominant hand; tasks we take for granted like brushing your teeth and hair. But it does not end there! Look at what she can do now.

With the support of a compassionate, highly qualified, and exceptionally skilled rehabilitation team she has been encouraged, guided, and empowered throughout her recovery.

But above everything else, it is her own resilience, strength, and determination that have been the driving force in this journey. Her willingness to adapt, learn, and express herself through new creative outlets is nothing short of remarkable.

We share her work today as a reflection of her courage, creativity, and the extraordinary progress she continues to make, and of what can flourish when patients are surrounded by a strong community of care.

We are honoured to walk this journey with her.

This is why we love what we do! ❤️

💥EXERCISE YOUR BRAIN💥
———
Great information from brain and aging expert, Dr. Rhonda Patrick, PhD ().
・・・
In the systematic review cited below, aerobic exercise was found to maintain brain volume in the left hippocampus in 14 different controlled trials suggesting aerobic exercise may prevent brain aging.
The exercise protocols in the 14 trials ranged from walking to jogging to cycling. The duration range was from 6 weeks to 24 months.
Aerobic exercise has been shown to increase brain-derived neurotrophic factor, IGF-1, and serotonin in the brain. All of these growth factors play a role in maintaining neurons and neurogenesis (the growth of new neurons) and have been shown to cause exercise-induced neurogenesis in animal studies. Just so many reasons to be physically active!

Meet another one of our brain injury patients. Some of you will remember him from the previous Gene Simmons post. We call him the miracle man for a very good reason. He was a pedestrian stuck by a truck and left for dead. The picture you see has not been photoshopped he was literally missing half of his head. When we first met him the entire hospital trauma team said he would never walk again or talk again they had no positive prognosis for him. He proved them completely wrong. Because he sustained significant frontal lobe damage he does have a filtering issue (reminder to never JUDGE people, you do not know their story). He continues to receive extensive case management, behavioural therapy, physiotherapy, social work and psychological treatment. We are so proud of his accomplishments he means the world to us. He was hospitalized for 6 months straight, when he got discharged he had to wear a helmet for two months until he had bone flap replacement surgery. He had a series of other complications along the way. It has been a long road to say the least but he is proof that miracles do happen.
