Ontario failed to meet its April 1, 2026 deadline set by the Canada Health Act Interpretation Letter to implement a publicly funded model for nurse practitioner (NP) services, creating uncertainty for both patients and providers.

At a time when nearly 3.3 million Ontarians lack access to a regular primary care provider, continued inaction only widens the gap in access to care. Nurse Practitioners are ready to support more patients, but equitable and supportive funding models are essential to enable them to do so effectively.

Join NPAO in advocating for flexible, sustainable funding models by sending a letter to your local MPP and the Minister of Health today: https://loom.ly/cNDPTdQ

**Your story matters.**

Have you received care from a Nurse Practitioner?

The Nurse Practitioners' Association of Ontario (NPAO) is collecting anonymous feedback from patients, families, and caregivers to better understand the impact Nurse Practitioners have on healthcare across Ontario.

Whether your Nurse Practitioner helped you access care sooner, manage a chronic condition, navigate the healthcare system, or simply made you feel heard, we want to learn about your experience.

Your feedback will help raise awareness of the important role Nurse Practitioners play in delivering high-quality, accessible care and support advocacy efforts to strengthen healthcare services for Ontarians.

🌟 Member Spotlight 🌟

At NPAO, we're proud to celebrate the many ways Nurse Practitioners make a difference in their communities - both inside and outside of healthcare.

This season, Nurse Practitioner Gretsinger is supporting local community recreation through her sponsorship of the Grantham Optimist Softball Co-Ed 2 Bluejays in St. Catharines, helping raise the profile of both the Nurse Practitioner profession and NPAO within her community.

Whether caring for patients, mentoring future leaders, volunteering, advocating, or supporting local initiatives, Nurse Practitioners are helping build healthier, stronger communities every day.

Thank you, Ellen, for your commitment to community and for being a proud ambassador for the Nurse Practitioner profession beyond the clinic walls.

⚾ We wish the team a great season!
