Last week at Toronto Tech Week, Grey Couch Counselling and Psychotherapy attended a Host Appreciation event among founders, operators, and builders shaping the future of technology.

What stood out wasn’t just what is being built, but how fast it’s evolving behind the scenes, often outpacing public awareness.

Across conversations in trust systems, creator infrastructure, and AI ecosystems, a clear pattern emerged:
We are building systems moving faster than the human nervous system is designed to process.

What became clear is that innovation is no longer only technical, it is deeply human, relational, and ethical.
This is where burnout is showing up in tech.
Not as individual weakness, but as a systems-level response to sustained intensity, cognitive overload, and lack of recovery space.

Grey Couch Counselling and Psychotherapy is an innovative mental health clinic supporting individuals and organizations in high-performance environments.
We focus on burnout prevention, emotional regulation, and building psychologically sustainable ways of working.

We are also committed to helping shape a more ethical, human-centered tech ecosystem: where wellbeing and innovation can coexist.

Grey Couch will continue to be present in these spaces, contributing to conversations on mental health, leadership, and the future of work.

We’re also hosting a webinar on burnout in tech leadership, now over 80% full- it’s going to be our largest webinar yet.

🔈 Mamas- this one is for you.

We’re hosting a virtual Tea Chat on May 6 at 12 PM and we want YOU there.

Whether you’re exhausted, overstimulated, or just craving real conversation with other moms who actually get it: come as you are. Grab your tea (or coffee, no rules here) and join us for an honest, nourishing hour together.

Here’s what we’re doing:
- A guided vent session, finally, space to say what’s really on your mind
- Cameras off - low stimulation experience
- Practical tips + strategies to de-stress before Mother’s Day (the day that is SUPPOSED to be unstressed, but we know what really happens)
- Open Q&A: bring your questions and your chaos
- Community and connection: isolation and feeling alone are huge challenges to motherhood, let’s fight back.

You are more than just a mother. And you deserve a community that sees that.

Did you know that feeling worried about taking vacation or breaks at work is actually a signal that your brain thinks that you’re in danger?

Yup, what might look like “hard work” and “productivity” on the surface is a signal of so much more going on underneath.

Like
Stress.
Anxiety.
Decision Fatigue.
Depression.
Low Self-Worth.
Unhealthy Friendships.
Weight Fluctuation.
Burnout.

We don’t want to change who you are at your core- someone who values their job and wants to produce good work. Nor do we want to encourage your team to not complete their tasks.

Instead we’re here to support workplaces with evidence based suggestions to ensure that the room gets done, efficiently and effectively with the least amount of burnout possible. So that we increase our life quality. Together.

Ready for a change? You don’t have to do it alone.
We’re here when you’re ready.

DM us “BURN” for our Reduce Burnout Guide to get started.

Were you the “good” daughter, too?

Growing up, I internalized the message that I had to be perfect, likeable, enough. It became a lens through which I judged myself and eventually, seeing my own daughter seeking that same validation made me realize: we need to talk about this.

If you’ve found yourself people-pleasing, engaging in perfectionism, or struggling to know who you are outside of your family role, this one’s for you.

Join me and Hanna, our art therapist, for an educational webinar where we’ll unpack where the “good daughter” belief comes from, the real impact it’s had on your life, and how to start navigating it differently.

You’re not alone in this. Let’s make changes together so the next generation doesn’t carry this weight.

This International Women’s Day, we are reminded of the incredible strength and honour the women in our past, so that we can show up presently for our future generations of women.🤍

Women walked away motivated to book long-overdue appointments, honour their mornings, and give themselves the care they had been quietly putting off for far too long.

That is what happens when women feel seen.
We shared our 5-pillar evidence-based self-care framework, built not for perfect circumstances, but for real life:
-Protect your sleep: everything starts here
-Tend to your mental health: proactively, not just in crisis
-Address your physical symptoms: your body is talking. Listen.
-Set time, energy and emotional boundaries: this is not selfish. It is survival.
Challenge the narrative: the story you tell yourself about what you deserve matters more than you know.

IWD is a celebration. But it is also a call to action.

To every woman reading this…you are allowed to take up space. You are allowed to rest. You are allowed to ask for help and to finally book that appointment and to open that gift that has been sitting on your shelf.
You are also someone else’s inspiration, even on the days it doesn’t feel like it.

This one is for every woman who came before us and every woman still finding her way.

👇 Which pillar do you need most right now? Let us know in the comments.

You know that thing that happens when you’re vibing with someone, building something beautiful together… and then money comes up?

Yeah. That.

The awkward silence. The tension. The “who’s paying?” dance. The unspoken expectations about who provides, who saves, who sacrifices.

For Black folks? Add layers of history, survival, systemic BS, and generational narratives we didn’t even know we inherited.

Money isn’t just money in our relationships, it’s power, protection, care, and sometimes… conflict.

So we’re creating space to unpack ALL of it. Introducing: The Economics of Black Love

A fireside chat where we get explore how money, power, history, and care show up in Black relationships, whether you’re coupled up, casually dating, taking a break, or happily single.

We’re bringing together:
✨ Alexia Kitiko of — to talk money and financial wellness
✨ Rasheeda Henry (S*x and Couples Therapist) — to explore intimacy, communication, and care

This isn’t a lecture or a webinar. It’s an honest, warm conversation, the kind you have with your friends over, but with receipts and tools you can actually use. 😏

This is for you if:
-You’re navigating partnership and want deeper insight
-You’re dating and reflecting on what you want (and need)
- You’re single and thinking about future love differently
- You’re just curious and ready for an interesting conversation

What to bring:
- A journal
- Your fave cozy drink
- An open mind — questions, reflections, and all
