Face the Future Foundation Canada

Face the Future Foundation Canada Face the Future Foundation We believe it’s unfair for a child be abandoned or lose the opportunity to lead a normal life because of a facial disfigurement.

Surgical missions sponsored by the Foundation help children, many of whom are orphaned or abandoned, take the first step to overcoming the debilitating limitations placed on them due to circumstances beyond their control.

🎥 Part 2 of 3

Despite running a busy practice and raising a family, Dr. Matthew Brace just completed his third Face the Future Foundation mission to Ukraine. Why? These trips are not just about using his expertise as a skilled Canadian head and neck surgeon to transform lives and provide hope for soldiers and civilians experiencing traumatic head and neck injuries. They are also about transferring knowledge and skills to the local medical community. In the one-week mission, lives are changed, new connections are made and skills enhanced.

Part 3 coming soon!

On the streets of Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine, posters honour the defenders who gave everything.

At Face the Future Foundation, we believe every life deserves dignity, remembrance and hope. The Foundation just completed its sixth mission to Ukraine where 90 procedures were performed on 34 soldiers and civilians with complex ballistic injuries to the face.

Our goal is to restore normalcy where possible, providing hope for a brighter future.

Selecting the best patients for surgery is a priority at Face the Future!

Our host country surgeons select the complex cases they are unable to perform, leaving many patients with severe tumours caused by cancer, as well as congenital or traumatic conditions in need of treatment. We look for patients who will benefit the most from our care and help hospitals build capacity and enhance sustainability by selecting patients who provide the best teaching opportunities to local surgeons.

Our multispecialty surgeons collaborate with host surgeons to plan each case. During pre-mission virtual calls, we review patients’ histories, physical exams, photographs, and CT/MRI scans.

Our surgical motto, “The 5 P’s”- “Prior planning prevents poor performance!”

🇺🇦 Part 3: Educational Impact

Face the Future Foundation’s missions to Ukraine go beyond surgery. We provide hands-on training, workshops, and symposiums for local surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses.

From advanced soft tissue techniques to anesthesiology master classes and nursing education, over 400 medical professionals gained life-saving skills to strengthen healthcare in Ukraine.

This is how we create lasting impact: by building capacity, sharing knowledge, and restoring futures.

🌍✈️ Face the Future Foundation travels across the globe to bring hope and healing, through humanitarian surgical missions.

These are just some of the lives we’ve transformed through life-changing reconstructive surgery.

Many of our patients are people in developing countries facing highly complex facial deformities caused by birth defects, trauma, or cancerous tumors. Without intervention, these conditions often prevent them from eating properly, going to school, working, or even being accepted in their communities.

But surgery changes everything. It restores not just a face, but dignity, confidence, and the chance at a brighter future.

You can be part of this mission. Join us in restoring futures and changing lives: https://facethefuturefoundation.ca/donate/

At just 15 months old, Salkozi Niybikora was born with a rare congenital condition called Tessier lateral cleft. Our surgical team performed life-changing facial plastic procedures to reshape the corners of her mouth, helping her not only look more natural, but also eat properly for the first time.

This is the impact of transformative surgery. This is the power of restoring futures. If you want to be part of the change, click here: https://facethefuturefoundation.ca/donate/
