Minimalist shoes aren't just about strengthening the feet, stride stability, in part, depends on arch mobility whereby the width and flexibility of a minimalist shoe increases arch mobility which plays a key role in stabilizing the shin from excessive rotations. This is something that can really help you out in resolving shin splints: https://lonowear.com/?ref=cedsholh
