My treatments have been known to be unorthodox because I’m not very pain swayed. What I mean is that I do my very best to find the root cause of why my patient may be suffering. This means of treatment means I’m looking at the body as a whole instead of honing in on the area of concern and rubbing it into oblivion.
This sparks a bit of confusion when my patient is complaint of right sided neck pain and I’m doing mobilizations on their left hip. This is usually when they says “I guess everything is connected.” While I roll my eyes a little (lol) my patients are %100 correct! What I mean by this is that The Body is A Dynamic Unit of Function!
What made me seek out further education is that I got fed up with when my people under my care suffered with multiple pathologies, I don’t believe people have such bad luck to have things like irritable bowl disease, lower back pain and intercostal neuralgia. When you look at the anatomy and the person lacks mobility, it globally restricts fluid moving. Fluid may not seem like a big deal but lets consider what fluid is in the body: blood! Waste! An environment for chemical and electrical currents in your nerves! And of course, my favourite… p**p! Yes, all these things require mobility in order to function. If one area of the body is not moving, you can bet your last dollar that you will have other strange repercussions manifest in your body like heart burn, gout or however your body chooses to express dysfunction!
Things like pain, the inability to pass substances even heart palpitations are merely expressions of things not working. What I mean is that this is a way of your body saying “Hey you!! Something isn’t right and you need to fix me!” So yes, mobility is key to keep things functioning normally. We are animals after all, we need to run around and play.
