Our Volunteer Award Celebration was a meaningful opportunity to recognize the outstanding individuals whose commitment and generosity continue to make a lasting impact in the lives of women, seniors, youth, newcomers, and families.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Elvira Caria, the recipient of EHCW’s Heart of the Community Award

Elvira’s support of EHCW goes far beyond generosity, it comes from a place of deep compassion and genuine care for individuals and families we serve. Time and time again, she has stood beside us, supporting our mission and helping us bring hope, dignity, and connection to our community.

Because of Elvira, lives have been touched, barriers have been eased, and people have felt seen, supported, and valued. She is not only part of our community, she is truly the heart of it.

Many women often learn to prioritize the needs of others, suppress their own needs, and ignore the signals that tell them to protect themselves. That’s why, for us, this workshop is not just a physical activity. It is first and foremost about building confidence—to believe in our emotions, take them seriously, and make a plan for the next steps. The main purpose is to protect ourselves.
