ONLY following an app to know when your ovulating can be prolonging your conception journey!

When I work with women I empower them around the signs their body is giving them indicating when they’re ovulating & therefore knowing when it is baby-making time!

So the general breakdown is this:

⏳after your period you’ll typically have a few “dry days” where there isn’t any mucus

🧴then it begins to increase in amount but it is more lotion-like, sticky & tacky

🥚 then it increases in amount and becomes “egg-white like” it’s slippery & stretchy THIS is the golden window. When ovulation is about to & is happening aka START THE CAR ITS BABY-MAKING TIME!!!

⏳then it goes dry again signifying that ovulation is complete & now starts the 2 week window of trying to figure out if anything you feel is an early pregnancy sign or not 🤣

Even if you’re not planning on conceiving for awhile it is a great practice to have to notice if your discharge changes throughout the month.

If you’re not noticing the egg white discharge, it can be a sign that something is off & therefore is a good time to book in with someone who has the expertise to interpret what’s going on & requisition any labwork needed (oh hey there! 👋) this way any future roadblocks for conception will be removed & you can have your body optimized for seamless conception.

**it’s also important to note that everyone’s experience of cervical mucus is different! As long as you’re not noticing any weird smell or colours-brown, green, yellow then it can be within the range of normal**

I was anxious & seeking comfort I could not find...

How could I guide my family in a world that is so evil?

Jesus drew me near..

A Bible found its way to me & verse by verse His Word comforted my heart in unexplainable ways..

One of the first verses that comforted (and continues to comfort me) me is:

“Fear not for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes I will help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

I now know my purpose is to steward my family to The Kingdom.

Satan will oppose me but that means I am a threat to his plan.

A woman clothed in Jesus stewarding her family to the kingdom is a powerful thing.

I’m taking this job seriously.

This world hates Jesus because he’s the only one that can stop it and he’s the one who has conquered it.

Jesus loves me (and you!) no matter what, he has forgiven my sins and he has renewed my heart.

My kids & I were blessed to be baptized on Palm Sunday. It was a beautiful day I have been meaning to share with you.

There is so much I want to share regarding the magnificence of Jesus as well as my testimony. This will come eventually!

I truly feel like the single sheep Jesus left the 99 for...Thank you to Jesus for not giving up on me.

If you’ve been seeking a comfort you cannot find, feeling that there is more to your life or just in a dark spot I encourage you to call out to Jesus. He’s ready & willing to show you the way. My DMs are open & I’m happy to chat about my walk as well

Can you relate?

The not so uncommon story of moms coming to my practice

😴 never feeling energized, simply getting through the day

😥 anxious when they’ve never been an anxious person

😢 not feeling like they can give themselves fully to their kids or businesses

The interesting thing is the same nutrients used to create your beautiful baby are the same ones leading to these feelings (great news-it’s not just how life has to be!)

When we run bloodwork and tailor a protocol to the specific needs of a woman postpartum she is able to THRIVE

We can’t ignore the effects pregnancy has on the body

This is exactly what I’m here for 👩🏼‍⚕️

To help mamas rebuild themselves, optimize their health so they can

⚡️ have the energy to be the mom they want to be while doing the things that set their souls on fire
🧘‍♀️ have calm stable moods, able to handle what life throws at them
💖 to feel like themselves again

If this resonates & you’re looking for support DM me 👩🏼‍⚕️

Once baby is Earth-side EVERYTHING has changed.

You’re learning how to keep this little potato alive, leaking from multiple orfices, hormonal roller coaster & navigating this new identity.

After 6 weeks (when your OB/midwifery care end) it is important to have someone looking after YOU while you’re looking after babe

7 investigations I run with postpartum patients include:

1. CBC (complete blood count)- this can tell you if your red blood cells are low or if you’re anemic. Anemia is a risk factor for PPD/PPA, I assess & try to correct for this during pregnancy, however, you’ve used a lot of blood to make your babe plus more through labour & postpartum so monitoring postpartum is a must. Figuring out what type of anemia you have is important to know what intervention/supplement to use so I run the tests below

2. Iron/ferritin: iron deficiency is a cause of anemia.
Symptoms of iron deficiency include irritability, fatigue & feeling faint upon standing

3. Vitamin B-12: another cause of anemia when deficient

4. Vitamin D: important for mood & energy & immunity

5. Thyroid Panel-not just TSH also free T3, free T4, Reverse T3 & thyroid antibodies. This panel gives us a nice picture of what’s happening with the thyroid (TSH is from the brain & by the time this is off, the thyroid is already not functioning optimally)& many women develop postpartum thyroiditis so this helps to assess

6. Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale- contrary to what is typically thought postpartum depression can occur anytime the first year & seems to peak between 3-9 months (when mom’s care has ended & many women are expected to be back to “normal life”). I use this tool with every postpartum patient to assess not only if intervention or referral is needed but so we have a baseline to go off if later on she starts feeling low.

7. Perinatal Anxiety Screening Scale-as with PPD PPA is something I monitor for as many women don’t realize the symptoms & go without help.

You deserve to be supported beyond the first 6 weeks postpartum. I’m currently accepting new patients for virtual care.
*its never too late to get this done even early years postpartum*

As women age CoQ10 levels drop contributing to:
⚡️ lower energy levels
💪🏻 decline in muscular health
🧠 decline in cognitive health (brain fog anyone?)
❤️ increased risk of cardiovascular disease

Although supplementing with CoQ10 is beneficial, it’s important to ensure it’s taken with GG.

This helps to increase overall CoQ10 levels getting you even quicker results!

Whether you’re:
🤰🏼 trying to conceive
🩸 trying to get your period back on track postpartum
🩸 perimenopausal

getting bloodwork done is almost always indicated

BUT

a detail that often goes missed & what can be crucial to identifying an issue is:

TIMING

So what do we want done & when?

**Day 1 of your cycle is your first day of for reference**

FSH, LH & estradiol are best tested day 3

This one can be tricky but progesterone is best tested 7 days after ovulation which for many is day 21

How do we know if ovulation has occurred? Changes in discharge (see past reels for details on how to assess this)

Assessing bloodwork is one of my fave parts of my job 🤓

Having a health professional in your corner with the expertise to assess bloodwork, identify issues & put together a protocol to get you results is key.

I am currently accepting new virtual patients DM me when you’re ready to work together 💖👩🏼‍⚕️

The week (or 2) leading up to your period can be ROUGH.

Some women have reported only feeling like themselves 1 week of the month🫠

It’s important to know the difference between is this PMS (premenstrual syndrome) or PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder)

They can look similar:

Symptoms starting 1-2 weeks before period starts & resolving with flow

Including symptoms such as bloating, breast tenderness & headaches irritability,

But a big factor includes the severity of it all.

Yes there are mood changes in both including irritability, anxiety, depression/low mood

But in PMDD things are severe enough to disrupt relationships and overall quality of life.

Whether it is PMS or PMDD feeling this way before your period is NOT something you have to deal with on your own!

Working with a healthcare practitioner such as a naturopathic doctor (hey there 👋 👩🏼‍⚕️) to diagnose what you’re experiencing, identify the root cause and provide a treatment protocol to address your specific needs (the cause is not the same for everyone so individualized care is important!) can help alleviate your symptoms and have you feeling like yourself more than one week a month.

Whether postpartum or during perimenopause many women experience thinner hair and work with me on a protocol to get them thicker hair.

Although there is no magic pill to enhancing hair growth, taking a holistic approach to identify any underlying causes  & ensuring the correct treatments are picked for you individually is key

First things first we want to make sure there aren’t any underlying issues at hand so a complete intake is done along with bloodwork

Things to rule out:
Anemia
Nutrient deficiencies (iron, vitamin b12)
Thyroid conditions

Ensure from a lifestyle/diet point of view:
Getting enough protein through the diet

If all of the boxes are checked then colostrum may be a helpful addition to your supplement regime

How does it help?

Colostrum is rich in essential nutrients
Activates growth factors
Boosts follicle health
Reduces inflammation (a cause of hair loss in some women)

When choosing a supplement its important to ensure
Sourced from healthy & ethically raised cows (grass-fed hormone-free is best)
Purity-third party tested
Correct dose
Cruelty free- ensure calves have had their fair share before extracting & cows are not harmed purring the process

I personally use Wellness Extract Colostrum in my morning smoothies

As always working with a practitioner to know what will work best for you is important.

If this resonates and you’re looking for support, DM me!
