For years, many Black women have shared experiences of being dismissed, overlooked, or not fully believed when speaking about pain, reproductive health, emotional distress, and maternal wellness.
Bill 115, the Black Health Equity Act, 2026, is an important acknowledgment of conversations communities, doulas, wellness workers, and advocates have been having for a very long time.
At Yoni Spa, we’ve been discussing:
* women’s sexual health,
* culturally safe care,
* emotional wellness,
* body literacy,
* and healthcare distrust for years.
Just like the susu became a response to financial exclusion, many Black communities created parallel systems of care when traditional systems left gaps.
