Registrant Reminder: Your Professional Development Portfolio

The Professional Development Portfolio program is a key component of the Quality Assurance Program at the College of Midwives of Ontario. Completing your portfolio demonstrates your commitment to accountable and ethical practice and shows that you are meeting your Quality Assurance obligations.

Participation is mandatory for all Ontario midwives. All midwives, whether general, supervised, transitional, or inactive, are required to actively maintain their Professional Development Portfolio. Our website offers a range of information and resources to support you, including detailed guidance on program requirements and a step-by-step video on how to complete each component of your portfolio.

All practising midwives renewing their registration with the College are expected to have completed full training in neonatal resuscitation (NRP), cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and emergency skills (ES). NRP certification must be completed every 12 months. CPR and ES certification must be completed every two years.

Registrant Reminder: Your Professional Development Portfolio
The Professional Development Portfolio program is a key component of the Quality Assurance Program at the College of Midwives of Ontario. Completing your portfolio demonstrates your commitment to accountable and ethical practice and shows that you are meeting your Quality Assurance obligations.

The program operates on a three-year cycle that begins when you first register with the College and continues throughout your career as a registered midwife. Participation is mandatory for all Ontario midwives. All midwives, whether general, supervised, transitional, or inactive, are required to actively maintain their Professional Development Portfolio. This includes completing your self-assessment, peer case reviews, learning plan, and all related learning activities by your specified reporting deadline.
