Heather Laviolette, RPN, AFCN is an Advanced Footcare Nurse with more than five years of nursing experience and a passion for helping others feel comfortable, confident, and cared for. Known for her warm and compassionate approach, Heather is dedicated to building meaningful relationships with her patients while providing personalized, evidence-based foot care tailored to each individual’s needs.

Heather is committed to ongoing education and professional growth, ensuring her patients receive high-quality care in a welcoming and supportive environment where they feel heard, respected, and comfortable every step of the way. Her attention to detail and genuine passion for wellness help support her patients in maintaining both comfort and mobility.

Outside of nursing, Heather enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring the outdoors, and traveling.

I had the pleasure of meeting and hearing Dr. Chapeskie speak at the conference this past weekend—what an incredible experience! He’s trained doctors from around the world in the Vandenbos procedure, and on top of that, he was genuinely funny and engaging. Definitely a highlight of the weekend!

🦶 A Permanent Fix for Ingrown Toenails — and a Name You Need to Know

This weekend at the professional foot care education conference, Dr. Chapeskie took the stage to present a procedure that is quietly changing the standard of care for chronic ingrown toenails: the Vandenbos procedure.

Pinkal Gandhi, NP — a clinical educator associated with the AFCN Learning Institute — was personally trained and mentored by Dr. Chapeskie to perform this specialized procedure.
She is one of the few nurse practitioners in Ontario offering it, and she brings this rare expertise to her patients at two London clinics.
What makes the Vandenbos procedure different?

Unlike traditional ingrown toenail surgeries that remove or alter the nail itself, the Vandenbos procedure focuses on removing the overgrown skin surrounding the nail.

Alyssa is a Registered Practical Nurse with extensive clinical experience spanning retirement and long-term care, palliative care, rehabilitation, wound care, community nursing, and the hospital settings. Practicing since 2014, she brings a well-rounded and knowledgeable approach to care. In 2026, she achieved her Advanced Foot Care Nurse certification, expanding her scope of practice to include specialized foot care services.
Alyssa is passionate about providing care that is comfortable, dignified, and compassionate. She strongly believes in educating patients as part of their care, helping them maintain mobility, independence, and overall quality of life while going the STEP ABOVE!
