May 19th is Personal Support Worker Day! Our PSW's are not just the front-line workers but also the backbone of the health care system. They do more than provide hands on care; they offer emotional support and build meaningful, trusting relationships. Thank you to our PSW's for going above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of others. You are truly one of a kind! ❤

Nurses Appreciation Week highlights the critical contributions of nurses to community health, and this year's theme is "The Power of Nursing". Nurses are compassion in action, providing expert advocacy for patient-centred care and driving innovation. They strengthen the nursing profession through leadership, shaping the future of health care by guiding the next generation of providers. This week we take an extra moment to reflect on their impact and the sacrifices they make to look after their communities.

On Doctor’s Day and every day, we thank our lucky stars to have Dr. Kelly Parks as our Medical Director.

She is a very caring, knowledgeable and tireless physician, whether here at hospice or out travelling the backroads on a packed day of home visits. Our nurses know they can reach out to her day or night. We’re not sure if/when she sleeps, but is always up for celebrating special occasions.

She tends to our residents and their loved ones with sensitivity, she never rushes, and she imbues the tough talks with kindness and humanity. Happy Doctor’s Day to Dr. Parks, Dr. Noland, Dr. Tisher, and to all the doctors serving our community.

A huge THANK YOU to the Sunday school kids form St Paul's Lutheran Church in Cobourg! As a group they collected items from our wish list to donate The Bridge Hospice. When our special delivery arrived we were over the moon about receiving such a generous lot! A young group with such kindness warms our hearts. Can't say it enough, THANK YOU! ❤

It’s Volunteer Appreciation Week! All of us at The Bridge Hospice want to say a special THANK YOU to volunteers past and present-- without you we wouldn’t be here.

Back in 2013 our Hospice’s doors opened because of volunteers who built our home and other kind souls who signed up to care for our residents day and night. Volunteers made it happen.

Their roles have evolved along with the Hospice, but volunteers remain at the heart of the operation. Working or retired, they come from all walks of life -- nurses, social workers, legal administrators, shop owners, autoworkers, hairdressers, teachers, home-makers -- whatever role they have or had, the life tips and tricks they teach us and the positivity they bring light up this special home.

They are the warm smile you see when our door opens, the hand that passes you a comforting drink, or the ear to listen that was there right when you needed it. They are the past and current Board members poring over policies, planning fundraisers, and setting us up for the future. They are also the members of area service clubs and faith groups who hold events year-round to raise funds for local causes like ours.

The gift of your time is priceless. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all that you do.

All hail the WARKWORTH COMMUNITY SERVICE CLUB, who on Friday delivered another in a long line of generous donations. The Bridge Hospice and WCSC go waaay back, with many Club members past and present helping us literally get off the ground. They were the first supporters of the new hospice proposal, then rolled up their sleeves to help plan, construct and manage the hospice project right through to opening day. (That summary doesn’t begin to do justice to their contributions!) Many thanks to members of the WCSC, for your tremendous support and for the many ways you serve this special community.

L-R: WCSC Membership Director Lillian Tilbrook, Hospice Executive Director Becky Marskell, and Volunteer Coordinator Fiona Chapman.
