We provide a tranquil, personal setting where people near end of life and their loved ones can share precious time when it matters most. We alleviate caregiver burden and anxiety, and offer everyone compassion, kindness and the comforts of home. Our services are provided free of charge.

This past Saturday, with perfect weather, The Bridge Hospice Held our 19th annual Dave Down Run Walk and Wag! It was a great turnout with smiling participants of two legs and four! A huge thank you to all those who came out and to the volunteers who donated their time to make our event such a success!

Congrats to all our metal winners in the 5K & 10K categories, and all the 1K kids runners, wow those little legs can really move! Everyone made us proud with your speed and endurance!

Through pledges, sponsors and donations we have raised an amazing $7,638 to support end of life care at The Bridge Hospice. Special shout out to our top fundraisers Mike Mulvaney with "Running through my thoughts....🏃‍♂️" and Dr. Kelly Parks' team "The Doc Trotters" . Thank you to all the fundraisers, your hard work collecting pledges allows us to continue to to offer our residents and their families compassionate care during such a difficult time.

Today is the last day to -pre-register for The Bridge Hospice Dave Down Run Walk & Wag!
Choose your distance & pace, 2.5K walk, 5K Walk/Run or 10K Run. Registration includes a Dave Down Run t-shirt (while supplies last).

Don't delay pre-registration closes at 10:00 pm tonight! In person registrations opens at 8:00 am Saturday morning.

Look at these beauties -- courtesy MONICA JOHNSTON & FRANTIC FARMS!

This is Warkworth, so would the Dave Down Bridge Hospice Run have run-of-the-mill medals? Never! 🙂

For many years, Frantic Farms has supplied hand-made medals fresh from the kiln, to the delight of age-category winners in the runs.

Saturday's Kids 1K honours Dave Down

For those new to the area -- who was DAVE DOWN? For many kids, Dave was the best part of a school day.

When Dave ran the Warkworth Farm Supply, he kept a bucket behind the counter that was stocked with candy suckers. After school was out, kids stopped in to say hi to Dave and try to earn a sucker. They knew what they had to do: tell Dave a joke that made him laugh, tell him something they learned that day, or play an instrument. He went through lots of suckers! So much fun and connection that made his community a better place -- nobody felt alone when Dave was around.

The Kids 1K is held first at 9 am. Bring your favourite young one (10 or under). Led by Peter Brackenbury on bike. Goodie bags for all! Then it's the 10K & 5K Walks & Runs, and the 2.5K Stroll. Choose your pace!

This week Anne Butwell and long time Brighton garage sale volunteers Susan and Christine came buy the Hospice with a special delivery! They came to present the funds raised from all their exceptional hard work collecting, organizing and selling donated items, all in support of The Bridge Hospice.

They raised an amazing $2,281.30 in sales but the generosity didn't stop there. Our community stepped up further to round the total to $3,000 and then more just kept coming in the round up battle where the final total landed on $3500.

We can not thank Anne, Susan, Christine (pictured L-R) and all the volunteers that come our in support of The Bridge Hospice enough. Every dollar received makes it possible to continue providing care to our residents and family.
