I've been guilty of turning movement into just another thing to check off. You?

Getting stuck in the mindset of just get the steps in, do it for the tracker, check it off the list, etc...

But it’s funny how different it feels when you go outside without treating it like a task. No pace to hit. No number you’re chasing.

And suddenly you notice things you’d normally walk right past…

- Geese and their babies soaking up the sun
- Flowers and greenery popping colour everywhere
- A huge number of swans just vibing 🤣

If we're just walking for steps, we might miss these wonders! I’m not saying tracking is bad, I still do track...But not every walk has to be something you complete on a to-do list.

Sometimes it can be just something you experience.

And the steps? Well, they kind of just… happen anyway. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

One thing that’s made eating better feel way easier for me is that I have up trying to eat perfectlĀ  and just made my lazy options a bit better. Cause...let's be real, that's the reality most days 🤣.

Most days I’m not up to cooking some balanced meal from scratch. I’m just hungry and want something fast. You know?

So now I keep a few go-to things ready:
- I’ll cook a pack of chicken or ground turkey (or any protein of choice) and keep it in the fridge.
- Wash and cut up fruit and veggies so it’s already there (grab and go!).
- Have things like wraps, rice, eggs, yogurt, bagged salad.

So when I’m starving and don’t feel like thinking, it’s more like:
– throw chicken, salad mix, and dressing in a bowl
– wrap with turkey, cheese, and whatever veggies are there
– yogurt, fruit, and some granola
– eggs and toast with fruit on the side

Nothing fancy. No recipe. Takes like 5-10 minutes. But it’s way better than standing in the kitchen debating what to eat and ending up grabbing something of low nutritional value.

I don’t try to be on track anymore...I just make the better option easier to grab when I’m not in the mood to try.

That’s what’s actually stuck for me. I plan for lazy šŸ˜Ž.Ā

What’s your current go-to when you’re starving and don’t feel like thinking?

I remember reading a quote once that started with "No one's coming to save you..." blah blah blah. I don't remember the rest, but I remember thinking: Good. Don't. I'll save me.

I'd like to say it's because I'm a badass, but it actually came from a deep wound of having to be independent, not because I was strong, but because I just had to be. I always knew that no one was coming to save me.

And while that's dark, I do think it's a good message for a lot of us. We do need to realize that no one is coming to magically fix our energy, our mood, our habits, or our life.

Which honestly? Rude. šŸ˜‚
But also… kind of freeing.

Because it means we don’t have to wait around for the perfect time, the right motivation, or some version of us that has it all together.

We could just… start taking care of ourselves.

Even if it’s messy. Even if we don’t feel like it. Even if it’s just getting a walk in and calling that a win for the day.

Turns out, you don’t need to have everything figured out. You just need to decide ā€œI’ve got meā€ and start acting like it.

Not perfectly though, just consistently enough.
That’s where things actually start to change!

What actually throws you off the most?Ā

Is it when you’re tired after a long day and everything feels like too much? When your routine gets interrupted and you don’t know how to adjust? When your mood is off and suddenly nothing feels worth the effort?

Because I don’t think most people struggle with knowing what to do…I think they struggle with what to do *when life doesn’t feel ideal*. Which...is pretty frequent for most of us 🤣!

We focus so much on changing everything and what to do when we're motivated, but we should be focused on what actually works in real life, not just on good days.

What’s the moment where things usually start to slip for you?Ā

At some point… it’s not about knowing what to do anymore. You already know.

You know you’d feel better if you moved your body a bit, drank some water, ate something real, went to bed earlier.

That’s not the problem.

The problem is how quickly we let ourselves off the hook when we don’t feel like it.

We’ve become really frigging good at negotiating with ourselves: I’ll start Monday, I’ll do it when I feel more motivated, Today doesn’t really matter...

And then somehow… weeks go by.

I’m not perfect with this either, but I’ve stopped expecting motivation to show up first. I just try to keep a different standard for myself now...not extreme. Not all-or-nothing. Just not letting things slide for too long.

That’s it. Just a quieter, stronger decision to show up a little more often than you don’t.Ā

I hope this resonates with you and it provides a mindshift that might actually get you feeling more capable to just show up for you! šŸ”„

We really act like we’ve tried everything and then spend most of our time sitting, scrolling, overthinking, and wondering why we feel off. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

Not saying movement fixes everything, but I really think it helps a lot more than we give it credit for.

A walk. Some sunlight. Moving your body a bit. Getting your thoughts out of your head and onto paper.

Simple things, but easy to skip so we often don't pay attention to them.

But they make a bigger difference than we like to admit!

Give it a shot! ā¤ļø

I don't always have long workouts… or the energy for them, if I’m being honest. 🤣

So, sometimes I like add finishers to my workouts. They are moves I do with lighter weights and with pulses, so I tire out my muscles quickly.

These are the kind of upper body finishers I come back to...nothing fancy, just a quick push at the end when I’m already a bit tired.

And I've noticed hat’s where a lot of the progress comes from. Not perfect workouts… just putting in a bit of effort at the end instead of calling it early.

If you’re short on time or not feeling super motivated, don’t skip it completely. Do your workout (even if it’s shorter), then add a small finisher at the end! (I usually stick to a 10-15 rep range and do at least 2-3 rounds of the circuit).

Most days, I’m not making fancy meals or following anything strict. Everything is easier if I keep it simple. This is just how I keep it together. Some strategies that can help you do the same:

1. Add before you take anything away
Before you try to cut foods out, just make your meals a bit better.

Add:
- a protein source
- something fresh (fruit or veg)

That alone cleans things up a lot without feeling restrictive.

2. Build your meals around protein (don’t overthink it)
Instead of asking ā€œwhat should I eat?ā€
Ask: ā€œwhat’s my protein here?ā€ Then fill in around it.

Examples:
eggs → add toast + fruit
chicken → add veggies + rice
yogurt → add fruit + something crunchy

Keeps you full, keeps it simple.

3. Prep ingredients, not meals
Full meal prep is overwhelming for most people.

Instead:
- wash + cut veggies
- have fruit ready
- cook a batch of protein (chicken, beef, etc.)

Now meals take 5–10 minutes instead of feeling like a whole production.

4. Have 5–6 go-to meals on repeat
You don’t need endless variety. Pick meals you like and rotate them. This leads to less decision fatigue. Consistency beats creativity here!

These are some strategies that actually work! I've tried and tested them for years.

You don’t need a full plan. You just need a few things you can actually stick to when life is busy, messy, and not ideal.

I didn't go for a walk today to hit steps or get a workout in. The sun and temperature called me outside and I just needed to get out of my head a bit.

Everything’s starting to come back to life right now, and I caught myself actually noticing it for once instead of rushing through it! Andthat turned into a walk… which turned into moving my body without really thinking about it.

I think this is the side of being active that doesn’t get talked about enough. It’s not always planned or structured..sometimes you're just living and movement happens because of that!

Sometimes it just starts with going outside, paying attention, and letting the rest follow.

If you’re not feeling a workout today, don’t force it. Just go get some air and see what happens from there!
