Mindset changing journal prompt for this week: “In what situations, or with whom, do I bend against my true nature?”

A tree bends with the storm and resets once it’s over. If storms are persistent however, it starts to grow accordingly; adapting to the stress. We are not so different.
This week I invite you to pay attention to when you are bending to a situation in such a way to compromise, or when you are bending and compromising yourself.

Gardening is much more than a frivolous activity. Research shows that engaging in horticultural activities can have significant mental health benefits.

Nature isn’t perfect. Trees and natural plantings aren’t in perfect rows, standing obediently in organized behaviour. It’s beautiful, naturalized, thriving chaos. It is us. We are it. Why expect more from yourself?
This week take a look at the messy, chaotic parts of your life that you keep wishing were “perfect”. Make an organized list. Then give yourself some grace and allow a little more naturalization into your days.

Mindset changing journal prompt for this week: “When does nature teach me to breathe?”

The air smells different in nature. You inhale deeper. You exhale slower. Your eyes relax. Your forehead wrinkles smooth out (who doesn’t love that?). It’s a calm you can’t find anywhere else. It’s also a tool; a free stress relief technique.
This week make a note of stressful times that came up and how you found a moment of relief, during or after, in a nature-based way. You have everything you need within you, and within the natural world.

Mindset changing journal prompt for this week: “What thoughts have I let control me recently? What would shift if I let them flow through me and not sit with me?”

Trying to control our thoughts by sitting with them, trying to make sense of it all, is like focusing on 1 grain of sand at the beach and believing that is the whole beach. You can’t see the bigger picture.
This week I invite you to get up. Walk. Shake it out. Stop trying to relax your mind by being still and focusing. Explore the whole beach. Observe your thoughts, don’t obey them.
