Our Community Support Is Exceptional!

We are incredibly fortunate to have such a generous and supportive community. The donations we receive make a real difference, and we are truly grateful for every person who thinks of STEPs on Arthur when they are decluttering!

We do, however, need your help! Please keep your donations until our social enterprise Tim Horton's New To You is open and donation staff are available to receive them.

Unfortunately, donations left outside are often vandalized or damaged by the weather. Once damaged, these items can no longer be sold, and we must pay to have them disposed of. As a not-for-profit organization, every dollar matters. Every dollar spent disposing of damaged donations is a dollar that cannot go toward programming and opportunities for the individuals who access service at STEPs.

We love our community's generosity, and we want to make the most of every donation. Please help us protect your donations by dropping them off during our operating hours only. Donations left outside are not helping us or the people we serve.

What a wonderful three days at the Directions Council Conference!

STEPS on Arthur is grateful for the opportunity to connect, learn, share ideas, and spend time with colleagues from across our sector. These three days were a powerful reminder of the commitment, collaboration, and passion that exists across Nova Scotia to create meaningful opportunities and inclusive communities for people of all abilities.

We extend a special thank you to Minister Susan Corkum-Greek, for her thoughtful words, her compassion, and her recognition of the time and care needed as our sector continues the important work of implementing the recommendations of the Remedy Report.

We are also grateful for the assurance of funding over the next two years. This stability is important as organizations across the sector continue to plan, adapt, strengthen services, and move this important work forward.

Thank you to Directions Council for bringing our sector together and creating space for learning, honest conversation, collaboration, and connection.

And the conversation continues! In just a couple of weeks, STEPS on Arthur will have the pleasure of welcoming Minister Susan Corkum-Greek and Minister Dave Ritcey, for a visit and tour.

We look forward to introducing them to some of the incredible people who make STEPS what it is, showcasing our programs and opportunities, and sharing firsthand the work happening here every day.

Minister Corkum-Greek and Minister Ritcey, we look forward to welcoming you to STEPS and we’re pretty sure you’ll enjoy your time here as much as we do!

Thank you to everyone who made the past three days so meaningful. We return to STEPS feeling connected, encouraged, and excited about the work ahead.

Community connections in action at STEPS on Arthur!

We were excited to welcome members of the Kinsmen Club to STEPS on Arthur to spend some time with us and take part in our programming.

Their first STEP?
Getting creative in our Ribbons & Buttons Program, where they rolled up their sleeves and helped make volunteer buttons!

There’s something pretty special about welcoming community members into STEP, not just for a tour, but to work alongside the people we support, learn more about what happens here every day, and experience our programs firsthand.

A big thank you to the Kinsmen for joining us, sharing some laughs, and jumping right in. We loved having you!
