EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapeutic approach that supports the brain and body in processing unresolved trauma and life experiences that may still feel emotionally or physically activated.

Often, we can understand something logically and still feel impacted by it internally. EMDR helps create movement and reprocessing where experiences may still feel stuck within the nervous system.

We currently have three practitioners offering EMDR sessions.

Everyone’s talking about nervous system regulation… but what does that actually feel like in real life?

Sometimes it looks like constantly feeling anxious or overwhelmed. Sometimes it’s shutting down, overthinking, feeling emotionally reactive, struggling to rest, or always feeling like you have to stay “on.”

Nervous system regulation isn’t about being calm all the time. It’s about helping your mind and body feel safer, more connected, and better able to move through stress, emotions, and everyday life.

Many of our practitioners at Aruma incorporate somatic and mindfulness-based practices into their work, supporting clients in understanding how their experiences may still be living within the body.

“Everyone is going through something. Wanting support isn’t a weakness.” — Lindsay

Beginning therapy can feel vulnerable, unfamiliar, or even intimidating at times. We loved Lindsay’s reminder that reaching for support is part of being human—not a sign that something is wrong with you.

Lindsay is currently accepting clients for in-person sessions at our Perth location, as well as virtually.

Avoiding conflict is often misunderstood.

It can look like being easygoing, accommodating, or “not wanting to make things worse.”

But more often, it’s something learned.
A way of staying safe when conflict once felt overwhelming, unpredictable, or painful.

It’s not a flaw.
It’s a strategy that made sense at one point.

And over time, it can begin to feel limiting.
Creating distance, and making it harder to move toward deeper, more honest connection in relationships.

“Why does this keep happening to me?”

It’s a question many people carry.

Often, what keeps repeating isn’t random—
it’s familiar.

Something your system learned,
and is still holding onto.

Not as a flaw—
but as a way of staying safe.

There’s space to begin understanding what’s underneath.

It’s normal to feel unsure, or to wonder where to begin.

You don’t need to have the right words, or a clear plan.

The process unfolds at your pace.
