Meet the people behind the work — A Day at Care BC

You may know what Care BC does. But do you know the people behind the work?

From a quick “hi” in the office to the many little tasks that keep things moving, every day is made up of people working together with care and purpose.

Here’s a small glimpse behind the scenes.

This is Care BC. This is our team.

More than a meal. ❤️

"Our goal is for every meal to feel like it was lovingly prepared by a family member." For Anthony, David, and Ming, food is more than nourishment. It's comfort, connection, and a way of showing care and respect.

By focusing on safety, nutrition, variety, and quality, they're helping seniors maintain their health, independence, and dignity while continuing to live comfortably at home.

Thank you, Blue Ivy Kitchen, for being part of the Meals on Wheels family.

From world-class hotels to serving our community. 👨‍🍳

David brings decades of culinary experience to Meals on Wheels. During his career, he worked at internationally recognized hotels, including the Shangri-La and Sheraton, preparing large-scale banquets and meals for distinguished guests.

Today, he says his greatest satisfaction comes from using his experience to serve seniors in our community. Every meal reflects the same dedication, professionalism, and care.

Together, we can help ensure more seniors receive nutritious meals and compassionate support. Donate today — link in bio.

"Meals on Wheels has been a godsend." ❤️

One client recently shared: "Meals on Wheels has been a godsend while I've had a broken ankle. It's such a wonderful program and the meals are delicious. I don't know what I would have done without their help."

Stories like this remind us that Meals on Wheels is about more than delivering food. It's about helping people recover, remain independent, and stay connected to their community.

Thank you to everyone who makes this program possible.

Meet the Team Behind Your Meals 🍽️

Every nutritious meal delivered through Western and North Shore Meals on Wheels is prepared with care by our partner, Blue Ivy Kitchen.

We recently sat down with Anthony, David, and Ming to learn about their passion for cooking, their commitment to food quality and safety, and what it means to serve seniors in our community.

For them, cooking is more than a profession—it's a way to care for others.

Stay tuned as we share highlights from our conversation over the coming weeks.

The Paul Myers and Shore Family Respite Centre Nears Completion

A new space for care, connection, and support is coming to life on the North Shore.

Recently, our team visited The Paul Myers and Shore Family Respite Centre (also known as NSFRC) to see the progress ahead of its opening. With construction complete, the NSFRC is now being transformed into a warm and welcoming environment for seniors and caregivers.

The NSFRC has been thoughtfully designed with seniors’ comfort and dignity in mind. Accessible features, including rooms for clients with higher support needs and a therapeutic bathing system, will help provide safe and supportive care for future guests.

Outside, the landscaped garden and garden therapy planters will offer future guests a peaceful space to enjoy nature and take part in gardening activities.

As we prepare for the opening of the NSFRC in the coming months, we look forward to offering a new respite service that supports seniors, caregivers, and our community.

Message from the CEO

On May 12, 2026, the Care BC Board of Directors and I met to develop the organization’s strategic plan. In recognition of our changing environment, Care BC updated its vision and mission.

As the needs of our aging population continue to grow and change, we have an opportunity to strengthen the services that help people live with dignity, independence, and connection.

The three areas of Care BC’s strategic focus are:
🍽️ Enhance Meals on Wheels
🏡 Develop Respite Care
❤️ Support Caregivers

The future of care is about creating hope, strengthening connections, and building communities where everyone feels supported.

Today is Canadian Multiculturalism Day, a time to celebrate the diversity of cultures, languages, and traditions that make our communities vibrant and strong.

Care BC has provided us opportunities to support seniors from many cultural backgrounds across British Columbia for over 100 years. Through programs like Meals on Wheels, we see every day how food, connection, and care can bring people together and help build a sense of belonging.

Today, we celebrate the many cultures that are part of Care BC’s community, and reaffirm our commitment to creating inclusive, caring spaces where everyone feels valued, respected, and connected.

Happy Canadian Multiculturalism Day!

June is National Indigenous History Month. It is a time to recognize and reflect on the rich cultures, traditions, and knowledge of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

We are grateful for the opportunity to serve diverse communities and to continue learning from and honouring the histories and contributions of Indigenous Peoples.

We also acknowledge that we live and work on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
