No More Stolen Relatives ❤️
Today marked the beginning of something very meaningful at Vancouver Aboriginal Health Society.
On September 9, 2026, we officially launched our first No More Stolen Relatives: MMIWG2S+ Sharing Circle, creating a dedicated, culturally grounded healing space for families, survivors and community members impacted by Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two Spirit+ People.
This morning brought people together in ceremony, in community and with a shared understanding of why this work is so important. After our public launch concluded, the doors closed to media and our first Sharing Circle began.
Behind those closed doors was what this initiative is truly about: a safe space to speak, to listen, to remember, to grieve, to support one another and to begin or continue healing.
The impacts of MMIWG2S+ are not something our families and communities carry only on designated awareness days. They are lived every day. The grief reaches across families, communities and generations, and so must our commitment to creating spaces where Indigenous people can find connection, culture, compassion and healing.
We are deeply grateful to our Elders and Knowledge Keepers who are helping guide this work, to the families and community members who trusted us enough to gather today, and to everyone who put their hands forward to help make this first circle possible.
A special thank you to Luma for welcoming us into such a beautiful space and allowing us to gather there for something so meaningful. The setting gave us a peaceful and supportive place to come together, connect and hold space for one another.
Today was only the beginning.
We will continue to hold space for those who are missing.
For those who were taken.
For the families who continue to search for answers.
For survivors.
For those carrying grief.
And for the generations who deserve safety, healing and change.
No more stolen sisters.
No more stolen daughters.
No more stolen mothers.
No more stolen aunties.
No more stolen relatives.
We remember them. We honour them. And we will continue this work together. ❤️🧡
