Diabetes stigma is real. Talking about monitoring results in a judgmental way can perpetuate negativity and affect outcomes for the person with diabetes. Use discussions about continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) results to help people learn what contributed to the data, rather than to assess their effectiveness at managing diabetes. To learn more, watch the first in a series of Ask the Expert videos that are part of the 2026 Virtual Clinical Rounds Series for Community Pharmacists: Best Practices in Diabetes Care. This short video features CDE pharmacist Robert Roscoe, who shares how adjusting your language, tone, and approach can lead to more supportive CGM conversations.

Community pharmacists can support people living with insomnia by optimizing medication therapies. The 2024 Canadian Delphi consensus recommendations on chronic insomnia reinforce the importance of treating insomnia as a primary disorder, rather than a symptom of another condition. The complimentary, live, 60 minute, CCCEP accredited webinar Advances in Insomnia Management will provide practical, evidence informed insights you can apply directly to practice. Make it a priority to help improve quality of life for people with insomnia. Join us on either June 24 or June 25 for this essential webinar.

In Canada, men experience higher rates of substance use, premature death, diabetes, ischemic heart disease, and su***de, yet they are less likely to seek medical care or participate in routine health screening compared to women. Pharmacists can fill these gaps and improve engagement in care through proactive conversations, accessible screening, walk-in services for minor ailments, vaccinations, and chronic disease management. This Men's Health Month let's recognize the unique needs of men and consider how pharmacists across Canada can take a more proactive role in supporting better health outcomes.

To***co use continues to be a significant public health concern with 11% of Canadians aged 15 years and older smoking ci******es, and 14% of youth reporting recent va**ng. On World No To***co Day, we are reminded that to***co use is one of the leading preventable causes of diseases such as lung cancer, cardiovascular disease, and COPD. Pharmacists play a key role in to***co cessation by proactively asking about to***co use, identifying opportunities for cessation, recommending and managing products to support to***co cessation, and using motivational interviewing to support behaviour change. A simple question or a brief intervention or recommendation by a pharmacist can have a life-changing impact for people by supporting them in taking critical steps to a to***co-free future

Diabetes Canada recommends that people with type 2 diabetes on insulin use continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) to reduce A1C and increase time in range. Pharmacists can use a diabetes-focused medication review to optimize therapies and incorporate CGM for people with type 2 diabetes. Get more confident with your medication review process by participating in the series of two live, peer-reviewed, complimentary webinars entitled 2026 Virtual Clinical Rounds Series for Community Pharmacists: Best Practices in Diabetes Care.

In the year following an acute coronary syndrome (ACS) event, patients remain at elevated risk of recurrent ischemic events such as myocardial infarction, stroke, or death. Early and effective lipid lowering is critical during this vulnerable period. The Canadian Cardiovascular Society (CCS) dyslipidemia guidelines recommend stepwise intensification of lipid-lowering therapy in high-risk patients post-ACS, which may include the addition of non-statin therapies such as ezetimibe or PCSK9 inhibitors in appropriate patients. The non-accredited, peer-reviewed, online course Pharmacist-Led Dyslipidemia Optimization in Secondary Prevention: Applying the CCS Guidelines in Practice was developed to support community pharmacists. Enrol today to explore how you can use your scope of practice to help reduce cardiovascular risk after ACS by applying the practical, evidence-based content, practice tool, and healthcare professional videos included in this course.
