š„ I am a total salad QUEEN.
Iāve been making myself a salad about 6 days a week for the past 25 years, and honestly⦠I still look forward to it.
But hereās the thing; I donāt make boring salads.
š„ Hereās my formula for a salad youāll actually craveš
* š„¬ Start with a bed of greens. Vary it up : arugula, spinach, romaine, kale.
* š Pile on the colour for eye appeal (and nutrients) with peppers, tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, cabbage or whatever veggies you love. Use fresh or even roasted veggies.
* š„ Add plenty of crunch with veggies, plus pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, or roasted chickpeas, roasted lentils, chopped nuts.
* šŖ Donāt skip the protein if itās a salad meal to help keep you full and satisfied. (fish, chicken, tofu, beans, lentils, chickpeas)
* š„ Include healthy fats for more flavour - like avocado, olives, olive oil, nuts, or seeds.
* š§
Finish with bold flavours like onions, fresh herbs such as basil, oregano, thyme, olives, lemon or lime zest (my favourite part !)
š„ And yes⦠use the dressing!
One question I get all the time from my clients:
āCan I use salad dressing?ā
My answer is always⦠YES!
I always say this to client: Healthy eating should never feel like punishment. If your meals leave you feeling deprived, theyāre probably not sustainable.
Build meals that are colourful, flavourful, satisfying, and something you genuinely look forward to eating. Thatās what helps create habits you can stick with for life. š
