Eggs and an English muffin. This was regular breakfast for me three years ago.

Now there is nothing wrong with this at all as a base it has - protein - carbs - fat. Everything you need for a balanced meal..

However, what I know now about my own body is that this was not is not enough food to sustain me and keep me full!

So what would happen is I would eat this then in an hour or two. I would be hungry again.

But I would tell myself it wasn't lunchtime so I would hold out maybe snacking on chips chocolate. Anything I could get my hands on that somehow 'didn't count'

I then would go into this downward spiral of how I 'can't control myself around food' and then I'd eat anything and everything in front of me, (including butter straight from the tub)

Fueling this internal thought that I had a problem with food.

what was actually happening is I just wasn't eating enough of the food my body needed and then when my body told me it was still hungry I was shaming it because I just ate and it's not time to eat again!

My body was telling me it needed more nutrients, (at the time I ate little to no fruits and little veg at lunch and dinner)

This pattern went on for years and years and years until I finally broke the cycle.

I learned what a balanced meal was and I understood what is going on in my body and how food drove my energy levels and that I needed a lot more food then I actually thought!

Now if I have a breakfast like this that's maybe not enough when I feel hungry again, I eat something worth while , like fruit & yoghurt!

You don’t have to feel motivated.

You don’t have to set a personal best.

Sometimes you just need to put one foot in front of the other and let that be enough.

For me that's a run but for you that could just be a walk, a 10 min stretch or 10 squats while waiting for a coffee

Small actions still count 🤍

Okay, I’m not going to lie, Hailey Bieber inspired me to make these 😂

She shared chicken meatballs a few weeks ago and ever since, I haven’t been able to stop making my own version.

They’re easy, packed with protein, the whole family eats them and they make the BEST leftovers.

+Chicken meatballs
500g chicken mince
¾ cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
Fresh parsley, chopped
Everything seasoning by Mingle Seasoning

+Tomato sauce
1 onion, diced
700ml passata
1 tin tomatoes
Garlic powder
Salt + pepper to taste

Mix your meatball ingredients together and roll into balls. Mine made around 16.

Brown them in a little olive oil and remove from the pan. Add your onion and cook until softened, then add the passata, tomatoes and garlic powder.

Add the meatballs back in and simmer until cooked through and the sauce has thickened.

I served mine with pasta, broccoli and cottage cheese and it was SO good.

Save this one for an easy weeknight dinner

Thank you Hailey Bieber

Let me normalise eating for energy - over not eating to be 'skinny'

Breakfast post gym - Sourdough eggs cottage cheese spinach, tomato

Morning tea - Greek yoghurt, berries seeds chocolate
(I eat chocolate everyday because it bring me joy, and because I eat it everyday I no longer need to eat a whole block)

Lunch - chicken salad wrap

Dinner - pizza (hame tomato and cheese and mushroom and olive)

You don’t have to love every workout.

But finding movement you genuinely love makes consistency so much easier.

And doing something you love consistently is going to give you so much more than forcing yourself to do the “right” workout once in a while because you think you should.

So find something you love.
Do it consistently.
That’s enough.

If you don't know what it is that you love then be brave and go try new things, so many places offer free trials use them!

Try a gym, that dance class, a different walking trail, going for a run, hopping on a bike, pick up a golf club, hoping in the pool....the options are endless

Then once you find it just watch how easy it is to keep showing up consistently

Trying to do a workout at home with kids… 😂

Home workouts have always been one of my favourite ways to move because they’re convenient and take away the “I don’t have time” excuse.

But if you have kids, you also have to expect that they probably won’t be peaceful or go to plan...stopping mid workout at least 10 times is normal!

Someone will need a snack.
Someone will climb on you.
Someone will decide your mat is the perfect place to play. (Or throw a stick at you)

And that’s okay.

Movement doesn’t have to be perfect to count.

But now I can feel so grateful to have three gym sessions each week. I get an uninterrupted hour to focus on myself (heaven) then on the other days I fit movement into whatever is going on.

You don't need to do the same thing everyday perfectly for it to count, just committing to a bare minimum that works for and keeping that promise to yourself is enough !

Do your kids “join in” when you try to exercise at home? 😂
