I remember so clearly the moment I heard of Joanna Macy: drinks in a local pub after a strategy session over a decade ago ...

My friend Zia shares that something I said reminds her of Joanna Macy.

"Who?" I ask.

"You will ADORE her!" Was the answer.

I had never imagined how much that moment would change the shape of my life.

Joanna Macy's work gave me language for the ache in my chest and the love in my bones. She gave me courage to look at the suffering of the world, and to stay. To feel. To BE with it all.

To say she was a teacher feels too small.

She was a portal—a fierce and tender guide who walked ahead with lantern in hand, showing us how to dance with despair and not lose our way.

In her memory, may we deepen our courage.
May we feel more. Love more. Risk more.
And may we continue the Work That Reconnects—not in her absence,
but in the living echo of her presence everywhere.
