Update!!
The bench is complete and will be delivered this weekend !!!!
A couple of months back, I was approached by a sweet lady in Saskatoon to make a piece honoring her father. He is 97 and still mobile and loving life. After much discussion and her telling me about his life, we settled on a bench for the garden. What makes this special is that it will be made from all of his old tools that she has collected over the years. He was also an avid gardener and lived Lillies.
This is a special one as it is celebrating his continued life, and I am honored to be a part of it.
I had to make a small structural frame, just for strength, as most of the tools are cast iron, and that doesn't hold well structurally.
The bench is 44" across and 36" high overall. It will be rusted after and coated to preserve. The seat will be made of old elevator wood.
This turned out beautifully,and it seemed to flow without any issues. Which is surprising as it's my first bench. I know that we would be proud to have it in our home.
