On Friday May 29th we had the pleasure of attending the 18th Recognition Awards for RCE Saskatchewan (Regional Centre of Expertise On Education For Sustainable Development) at Manitou Springs Resort and Mineral Spa. We were fortunate enough to be chosen as a recipient of this award which focuses on the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (we applied in relation to #8 - Decent Work and Economic Growth, #11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities and #16 - Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions). Each award recipient gave a short presentation (there was a record 41 recipients this year)!

Our Executive Director Angela Silzer and Megan Lannan were very fortunate to receive the award on behalf of Interlake from Her Honour the Honourable Bernadette McIntyre, Saskatchewan's Lieutenant Governor. They enjoyed an informative day of presentations and discussions with other award recipients.

Special thanks to Jeff Siegfried from the Watrous Manitou Marketing Group for encouraging us to apply (and always being one of our biggest supporters), the RCE Saskatchewan committee for selecting Interlake as an award recipient, and all of our supporters and partners in our community. Community IS Inclusion!

For our Friday DSP week post, the challenge was Dress Up Remix Day, and we thought we’d share some of our fabulous people in their awesome IHRC clothing! Sometimes we are twinning or “trilpeting” or “quadrupleing” even!
Our final 4 winners of Home Hardware gift cards are Kara, Jenna, Wendy and Trista! All the names went back in for the chance to win a Mastercard gift card and Jennifer was our lucky winner!

We are about to enjoy even more treats from our Board (thanks Kerry, Tammy and Lisa for dropping them off).

Celebrating DSP week with Workspace Wednesday - the board the participants create and decorate with the changing holidays and seasons as well as the board showcasing the artistic talents of the residents at the group home and the puzzle table! We also might have caught our ED “hard at work” 😉
