Healing doesn’t always happen in ways we can see.
A little over two weeks ago, my body forced me to stop.
I had surgery, and suddenly all the things I thought I needed to get done weren’t nearly as important as listening to what my body needed.
Rest.
Time.
Patience.
Now I’m starting to feel so much better, and I’ve been thinking about how easy it is to miss the small signs that healing is happening.
One day you’re exhausted from doing something simple. Then a few days later, you realize it doesn’t take quite as much out of you.
You sleep a little better.
You have a little more energy.
You start wanting to do things again.
Healing isn’t always a dramatic breakthrough.
Sometimes it’s simply realizing, “I feel better today than I did yesterday.”
And maybe that’s something we need to notice more often—not just when we’re recovering physically, but when we’re healing emotionally too.
Our bodies are constantly communicating with us.
Sometimes they ask us to move.
Sometimes they ask us to breathe.
Sometimes they ask us to be still.
The practice is learning to listen.
Breathe. Ground. Go Within.
