Sometimes the instinct is to get out of anything uncomfortable as quickly as we can.

The heat. The hard moment. The feeling we’d rather not feel.

But there’s something to be said for learning to sit with discomfort. To breathe through it. To notice that it changes.

Some lessons follow you out of the sauna.

To get you through it…
• Slow your breath.
• Unclench your jaw.
• Drop your shoulders.
• Notice what you’re feeling without trying to fix it.
• Remind yourself that the moment will change.
• Stay with yourself through it.

Anything we’re missing here?

Thanks to Mountain Life for amplifying Steve’s important message.

What began as a film about a pro mountain biker’s biggest stunts became an unexpectedly raw story of vulnerability, survival and the community that rallied around him.

If you followed along with us during Crankworx, you probably already know Steve and Kelsey.

We shared a first look at Ride to Resilience at CRANKWORX Whistler’s Deep Summer, then watched their story come to the big screen here in Whistler.

Tomorrow, it goes much further ➡️

Steve Vanderhoek and Kelsey Toevs could have taken the traditional route and released the film on a streaming platform. Instead, they chose to make it free.

Because this was never just about making a film. They believe in the power of Steve’s story, the conversations it can start, and the people it might reach when there’s nothing standing in the way of watching it. So do we…

⏰ Set your alarm

Ride to Resilience premieres on YouTube September 3 at 8 a.m.

👀 Watch it. Share it. Send it to someone who might need it.

Busy doing absolutely nothing…

Highly recommend.

Not everything needs to be faster.

Not every quiet moment needs to be filled.

Not every minute needs to be productive.

We listen to podcasts on our walks. Scroll while we wait. Answer emails while we eat. Reach for our phones the second there’s nothing else to do.

We’ve become so used to filling every little space that doing nothing can feel strange.

But a conversation can wander. A meal can take an hour. You can sit somewhere without documenting it. You can spend an afternoon without having anything to show for it.

Some things are better when we let them take their time.

Maybe we are too.

With just one month left to enjoy our Whistler route this season, there’s still time to plan a weekend getaway or sneak away on a spontaneous day trip from Vancouver. 💆‍♀️💭

Take off from downtown Vancouver, land in Whistler, and spend the day soaking, sauna-ing and slowing down at Scandinave Spa Whistler 🪵🗻

Because sometimes the best way to get to your spa day… is by seaplane. ✈️

Our very own Massage Technician, Robert Borsos, is representing Team Canada - 2026 World Nomad Games! 🏹🐎

Robert has been part of the Scandinave Spa Whistler family since we first opened our doors in 2010. When he’s not here helping guests rest and recover, you will find him doing something very different: shooting arrows from the back of a galloping horse. 😱

Robert is an accomplished horseback archer and the founder of Borsostorzs Horsearcheryclub in Mount Currie. Horseback archery combines horsemanship and traditional archery, with riders shooting at targets while moving along a track — which, as you can see, requires a pretty incredible combination of skill, speed and focus.

At the end of August, Robert is heading to Kyrgyzstan to represent Canada at the 2026 World Nomad Games.
Robert and his team are self-funded, so if you’d like to help get him there, visit http://horsebackarchery.ca and click Donate.

We’re pretty proud to have this guy on our team. 🇨🇦

Have you ever had a massage from Robert?
