I was thinking about this after working with one of my post-op clients…
I feel like nobody really prepares you for how much your body can change during recovery.
One day you’re looking in the mirror thinking, “okayyy I’m finally seeing it” and then the next day you’re SO swollen again and wondering what happened 😭
And honestly, I understand why that can be frustrating. You just went through surgery, spent all that money, and you’re ready to see the result already.
But your body doesn’t work on our timeline.
The swelling can come and go. Some days you’ll feel lighter, some days you’ll feel huge. Your stomach can feel tight, your back can feel hard, and sometimes you’ll swear you look bigger than you did before surgery.
I see this all the time.
It’s also why I really believe in taking your post-op care seriously. Lymphatic drainage isn’t about hurting you or trying to force your body to heal faster. It’s about gently supporting your body while it’s doing all the work of healing.
And pleaseeee don’t compare your recovery to someone else’s. 😭 Everyone heals differently.
If you’re cleared for lymphatic massage and you feel like you need a little extra support during your recovery, my booking link is in my bio. 🤍
