Can we have a little heart-to-heart about menopause?

As someone who’s in it, I wish someone had told me years ago that menopause isn’t just about hot flashes and missing periods.

It’s about metabolism.
It’s about muscle.
It’s about blood sugar.
It’s about sleep.
It’s about stress.
It’s about your heart, your bones, your brain, and how resilient your body is when hormones begin to change.

The best time to prepare for menopause isn’t when you’re already in it.

It’s before.

If I could give my younger self one piece of advice, it would be this:

Build muscle.
Prioritize protein.
Protect your sleep.
Manage your stress.
Take care of your metabolic health.

Because when menopause arrives, it tends to magnify whatever foundation you’ve built.

The good news?

It’s never too late.

Whether you’re 35, 45, or already in the thick of it, every healthy choice you make today is an investment in the woman you’ll be tomorrow.

We spend so much time talking about surviving menopause that we rarely talk about preparing for it.

Here’s the thing…

Menopause isn’t just a hormone transition.

It’s a metabolic transition.

Many women enter menopause already struggling with blood sugar issues, insulin resistance, chronic stress, poor sleep, loss of muscle mass, increasing belly fat, or inflammation.

Then menopause arrives and pours gasoline on a fire that was already smoldering.

That’s why I’m becoming increasingly convinced that one of the best things we can do for our future selves is build metabolic resilience before menopause arrives.

Build muscle.

Prioritize protein.

Support blood sugar balance.

Move your body regularly.

Protect your sleep.

Manage stress.

Take care of your gut.

Because when estrogen begins to decline, your body is going to lean heavily on the foundation you’ve already built.

If you’re already in menopause, don’t panic. It’s never too late to improve your metabolic health.

But if you’re in your 30s or 40s, consider this your friendly reminder that you’re not just preparing for next summer…

My go-to iced matcha lately 🍵

Not because it’s trendy… because it actually keeps me going, and helps me hit my protein goals.

Here’s how I make it:

✨ 1 cup milk of choice (you absolutely can replace milk with water for low cal)
✨ 1 heaping scoop unsweetened matcha
✨ 1 scoop protein powder
✨ A splash of homemade simple syrup

Blend until smooth (don’t over-blend).

Fill a large glass about ¾ full of ice and pour over top.

That’s it.

You can absolutely stop there, but if you’re feeling a little extra, add some cold foam or whipped cream. Life is short. 😉

What I love about this combo is that the protein helps support blood sugar balance, while the matcha provides a gentler, steadier energy compared to coffee.

Your morning drink doesn’t have to be complicated to work for you.
