September is su***de prevention month and we would like to do our part in raising awareness for mental health and su***de.

The facts:
•Approximately 13 people die every day by su***de in Canada. This is the equivalent to 4750 deaths per year by su***de
•There are more than 250 su***de attempts per day
•Su***de rates are approximately 3x higher in men than in women
•Su***de is the second leading cause of death in Canada among youth and young adults
•There are approximately 55 hospitalizations per day due to self harm
•Adolescent girls aged 15 to 19 have the highest self-harm hospitalization rate which is about four times that of boys of the same age.

Starting September 1st & for the month of September, for a $7 add on we are offering the Reset line by Amika, which gently cleanses and refreshes, leaving your scalp feeling tingly and brand new, with proceeds going to The Dustin Schulte Initiative in honour of Shae’s brother who had died by su***de last year.

We will also have a donation jar at the front desk (as well as one on Shae’s station) if you choose to donate that way instead.

There will also be a self care draw later this month where you can win a care package and a free service with Shae. Details will follow closer to!

We have all struggled with our mental health at some point in our lives. What’s important is that we feel supported and seek help when we need it. If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of su***de or self harm, please talk to somebody and reach out. The world is a much better place with you in it. ❤️‍🩹
