Hearing the word "lump" can feel unsettling, but not every breast lump is cause for alarm.

A fibroadenoma is one of the most common benign (non-cancerous) breast lumps, especially in younger women, although they can occur at any age. They are made up of normal fibrous and glandular breast tissue and often feel smooth, firm, and movable when touched.

In many cases, no treatment is needed. Once a fibroadenoma has been confirmed as benign, your healthcare provider may simply recommend monitoring it over time. If it becomes large, uncomfortable, or changes in appearance, surgical removal may be discussed.

Supporting overall breast health through healthy lifestyle habits may also be beneficial:
🌸 Eat a nutrient-rich, anti-inflammatory diet
🌸 Prioritize quality sleep and stress management
🌸 Stay physically active
🌸 Support healthy lymphatic circulation with regular movement and hydration
🌸 Follow your healthcare provider's recommendations for ongoing monitoring

At Trillium Thermography, we do not diagnose fibroadenomas. However, breast thermography provides a physiological assessment by evaluating heat patterns and vascular changes within the breast tissue. When performed as part of a comprehensive breast health strategy, thermography may offer valuable information that can be compared over time alongside clinical examinations and other recommended imaging.

The goal isn't fear—it's awareness.

Knowing what is normal for your body and staying proactive with regular breast health monitoring empowers you to make informed decisions with your healthcare team.

💚 Your breast health journey is about prevention, education, and confidence—not worry.

💡 IS CLINICAL THERMOGRAPHY COVERED BY INSURANCE? 💡

This is one of the questions we hear most often.

Clinical Thermography is not covered by OHIP in Ontario. However, some clients may be eligible for reimbursement through their extended health benefits or Health Spending Accounts (HSAs), depending on their individual plan.

Coverage varies from one insurance provider to another, so we always recommend contacting your benefits provider directly to ask:

✔ Is Clinical Thermography eligible for reimbursement under my plan?

✔ Is a Health Spending Account available?

✔ What documentation or receipt is required for submission?

Many clients are pleasantly surprised to learn they have wellness benefits available that can help offset the cost of services focused on proactive health and wellness.

🌿 Every insurance plan is different.
🌿 Every wellness journey is different.
🌿 It's always worth asking.

If you have questions about Clinical Thermography, we're happy to help explain the process and provide information about upcoming appointments.

There should be no argument or debate over this!

The question isn't whether mammography or thermography is better—it's about understanding that they provide different information and can work together.

Mammography is designed to identify structural changes within breast tissue, while thermography detects patterns of heat and inflammation that may reflect physiological changes.

Each has its own strengths and limitations. Our goal is not to replace conventional imaging, but to offer women an additional choice that helps fill in the details conventional approaches may not capture. We believe informed women deserve access to complementary tools that support a more complete picture of their breast health.
