Someone asked me to talk about salt
**Before I start, I'll just put my own disclaimer in here that there are dozens of conflicting articles out there about sea salt. It is important to do your own research and be an informed consumer. You can make yourself go crazy with the amount of information that goes in either direction. You do need some salt for electrolyte balance and cell health. Yes, you can get some naturally occuring salt in your whole foods. It is not a condiment. You only need a pinch a day. Quality matters as well as Source**
Somewhere along the way, we were taught to fear salt.
So here’s the truth 👉🏼
Salt is a mineral your body desperately needs to survive. The real problem isn’t the mineral salt itself, It’s the man-made version we’ve been consuming for decades that is toxic. Reality is your body has to have minerals and salt is one of them. But the problem is big food companies made a toxic salt which is allowed to be used in our food chain which causes health issues.
Sea Salt is essential to life, our bodies need it in its pure mineral rich form not lab made poisons and without it, the body can’t:
👉🏼 Maintain electrolyte balance
👉🏼 Support nerve function
👉🏼 Aid in adrenal and thyroid function
👉🏼 Enable stomach acid production (HCl) for proper digestion
👉🏼 Transport nutrients across cell membranes
👉🏼 Produce cellular energy (ATP)
Most people today are using and consuming the toxic highly processed table salt which is bleached, stripped of every mineral nature put in it, and laced with synthetic iodine and anti-caking agents which are often aluminum-based that causes harm to our bodies.
This isn’t salt…
It’s a toxic chemical cocktail pretending to be food.
And that’s what contributes to:
🚫 High blood pressure
🚫 Fluid retention
🚫 Adrenal fatigue
🚫 Autoimmune issues
🚫 Swelling, puffiness
🚫 Headaches
🚫 Brain fog
🚫 Muscle cramps
🚫 Hormonal disruption & imbalance
🚫 Thyroid dysfunction
🚫 Cravings (especially sugar or salty junk food)
So what can you do?
👉🏼 Ditch all iodized table salt and processed foods (chips, canned goods, soups).
👉🏼 Check labels on restaurant takeout, sauces, and broths.
👉🏼 Swap to real salt: Keep a grinder of Himalayan or Baja Gold salt in the kitchen.
👉🏼 Stop the use of Gatorade and electrolyte drinks made from toxic dyes, sugar and fake electrolytes.
When we return to real, unrefined salt, the kind harvested naturally from the earth and sea we give the body exactly what it needs:
✅ Electrolyte balance
✅ Adrenal and thyroid support
✅ Brain and nerve function
✅ Stomach acid production
✅ Nutrient absorption
✅ Hormone balance
✅ Hydration at the cellular level
Here are some of the best salts I recommend to use:
Unrefined, Mineral-Rich, natural Sources
These are naturally harvested, minimally processed, and contain trace minerals essential for hydration, cellular communication, detoxification, and adrenal support.
🔆 Celtic Sea Salt (Gray Salt)
Source: Harvested from the Atlantic coast of France.
Color: Light gray or slightly damp.
Minerals: Over 80 trace minerals including magnesium, calcium, and potassium.
Benefits: Alkalizing and balancing to pH.
Supports adrenal and thyroid function.
Hydrates the cells and improves electrolyte balance.
Naturally sun-dried—no heat bleaching or refining.
🔆 Himalayan Pink Salt..check your source
Source: Ancient sea beds in the Himalayas (Pakistan).
Color: Pink due to iron content.
Minerals: Around 84 trace minerals including iron, calcium, and zinc.
Benefits:Helps regulate blood sugar and hormone balance.
Supports vascular health.
Aids in detoxification and nutrient absorption.
🔆 Baja Gold ( what I use)
Source: France and the cleanest option
Color: gray, almost sticky like
Minerals: 91 trace minerals.
Benefits: Sustainably sourced and unprocessed.
It’s tested down to 250 parts per billion
For microplastics and glyphosates
Excellent for replenishing electrolytes.
Supports metabolic health and energy production.
Simple Healing Tip
Take a small pinch and stir it into a glass of clean, filtered water first thing in the morning.
Drink it slowly and let your body soak in the hydration, electrolytes, and trace minerals it’s been craving. I know doing this small habit everyday helped my adrenals from exhaustion and burn out.
This one small act can help:
✅ Rehydrate your cells
✅ Support your adrenals and thyroid
✅ Jumpstart digestion
✅ Wake up your brain and energy naturally
✅ Bring balance back to your body
I hope this helps.
