This is due to dysbiosis, an imbalance in bacterial composition. This includes the loss of “good” bacteria, leading to overgrowth of pathogenic bugs like fungus and “bad” bacteria. The mucosa of the gut is often inflamed as well, contributing to leaky gut.
Sometimes antibiotics are needed, in which case a protocol can be started to repair.
An antifungal may be necessary if there is overgrowth, this can include: Pau D’arco, caprylic acid, black walnut, cloves, garlic, oregano oil, or grapefruit seed extract.
Colostrum is packed with antibodies to neutralize “bad” bacteria. Probiotics add necessary “good” bacteria back to the biome.
Mucilagens like slippery elm or marshmallow can soothe and restore the mucosa.
L glutamine, an amino acid, can help to rebuild the mucosa and seal leaky gut.
