Emergency Department services will be reopening on Mon. Sept. 7 in the existing ED space at DRHC! Teams from across many disciplines are working together to ensure every system — from ventilation & power to patient care spaces — is ready to safely support the community of Dauphin & area.

On Aug. 25 clinical leaders and staff, representatives from Manitoba Health Seniors and Long-term care, Prairie Mountain Health, Shared Health, as well as contractors, design professionals and vendors took part in a walk-through to review layout and workflow of the site to ensure the planned space, equipment and processes will support a safe and effective reopening.

Today is International Overdose Awareness Day so here are three things you may not know about Naloxone kits!

1️⃣ In Canada, anyone can get and can use a take-home naloxone kit. You don't need to be a doctor, nurse, or emergency responder. Instructions on how to use the kit are available on the Health Canada website.

2️⃣ When requesting a take-home naloxone kit online, or picking one up locally, you don't need to provide your personal details. When picking up a kit in person you will be offered a brief training session on how to use it. Although this training is recommended, it is completely optional.

3️⃣ Manitoba has a webpage with a huge list of places where you can pick up or order a take-home naloxone kit for free. It's called the Naloxone Finder – Take Home Program.

Tomorrow, Aug. 31, is International Overdose Awareness Day, so we’re resharing our story on how Manitoba's Rapid Access to Addictions Medicine (RAAM) clinics are making it easier to connect with addictions medicine care thanks to the Digital Front Door service.

Getting help for substance use can be a complicated and confusing process, but that process has become easier and faster thanks to RAAM Digital Front Door, an innovative virtual service led by nurses.

Jeffrey Schmitz and Haley Riedle, registered psychiatric nurses (RPN), have offered virtual appointments through RAAM Digital Front Door since the service launched two years ago in 2024, conducting assessments and helping people connect with treatment and support options that fit their unique needs and goals.

Kids are heading back to school. Do you have everything they need? Don't forget about immunizations.

Immunization is the best protection against the disease. The measles vaccine is offered free-of-charge as part of Manitoba’s Recommended Routine Immunization Schedule and to those who meet Manitoba’s eligibility criteria.

We asked and you delivered! We were nearly overwhelmed when we asked Shared Health staff for photos of your pooches for National Dog Day. You shared photos of your fur babies at the lake, chasing frisbees, or chilling in the sun. Here they are.

Happy National Dog Day!
