Reminder: employers can no longer request sick notes in most situations starting October 1. Physicians thank you for making this change, freeing up our time to care for more patients. ⁠

With over 600,000 sick notes per year, eliminating them can free doctors’ time for up to 300,000 patient visits. ⁠

Don’t be discouraged if your child’s lunchbox is coming back home looking relatively untouched, especially in the early days back to school when they are getting used to new routines, or rushing lunchtime to go play with their friends.

Pediatrician, Dr. William Li recommends a variety of foods throughout the day, remembering that children’s appetites change from day-to-day and even meal-to-meal. Help kids get better sleep for back to school!

Ease towards the sleep guidelines for the age of your child and keep a consistent schedule

It can include a bath, changing into pyjamas, brushing teeth and storytime.

And no screens for 1 hour before bedtime.

Gets lots of playtime after school with sports, time at the park, or walking together as a family.

Ages 6-12 = 9-12 hours
Ages 13-18 = 8-10 hours

Dynacare Locations to Re-open Wednesday

Following a Manitoba Labour Board hearing Tuesday, Dynacare employees have been ordered back to work on Wednesday, September 9.

Lab locations should re-open on Wednesday with normal test work resuming. Please continue to monitor the situation and contact your doctor if you are concerned about testing.
