National Indigenous History Month is a time to honour the diverse cultures, experiences, and vital contributions of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the ongoing impacts of colonization and how we can take tangible steps toward reconciliation.

Over the month of June, we are reflecting on the past, present, and future contributions of Indigenous people across our health system and on the work being done to improve experiences and outcomes for Indigenous people throughout Manitoba.

By weaving together past, present, and future, we can bring together diverse perspectives and move forward in a good way while honouring the path that brought us here.

Measles is highly contagious and characterized by a blotchy, red rash. It can cause serious complications like pneumonia and brain swelling (encephalitis).

Immunization is the best way to prevent measles. Talk to your health-care provider or call Health Links – Info Santé (1-888-315-9257) to ensure everyone is up to date. If you are planning to travel with an infant between 6 months and 12 months of age, talk to your health care provider about early measles vaccination.

Unsure if you have received the measles vaccine and want to check your immunization records? Have questions about the vaccine?
👉 Talk to your health-care provider or local public health office or request your records online: https://forms.gov.mb.ca/immunization-update-request/

Ticks, Mosquitoes, and Animal Bites! Oh My!
We may not have lions or tigers in Manitoba, but a bite from a tick, mosquito, or unfamiliar animal can still ruin your adventure. Some bites can carry diseases like Lyme disease, West Nile virus, or rabies.

Before you head outdoors:
- Use insect repellent
- Wear long sleeves and pants
- Check for ticks when you get home
- Keep your distance from wild or stray animals

For more information, please visit https://bit.ly/4mjKc8j

Stay safe and enjoy the outdoors bite-free!
