🧡 Learning through dialogue.
This week, we had the privilege of welcoming Niigaan Sinclair to Epic Opportunities for a powerful conversation about truth and reconciliation.
Niigaan challenged us to think, reflect and deepen our understanding of the impacts of colonialism, Indigenous perspectives, and what reconciliation can mean in our everyday lives, relationships and work.
There was a lot to take in — and a lot for us to continue thinking about.
As we've shared before, we know we have work to do. Reconciliation isn't something we accomplish through one conversation, one training session or one day of recognition. It's an ongoing commitment to listening, learning and continuing to do better.
We are incredibly grateful to Niigaan for sharing his knowledge, perspectives and stories with us — and to everyone at Epic who came ready to listen and learn.

As we recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we acknowledge the lasting and ongoing impacts of colonialism and residential schools on Indigenous Peoples, families and communities.
At Epic Opportunities, we also recognize that we have a lot of work to do ourselves. Reconciliation is not something accomplished in a day. It is a continuous commitment, and we continue to learn about what that commitment should look like within our organization and our community.
Today, our Directors Team gathered for lunch at Manoomin Restaurant, an Indigenous-owned restaurant located inside the Wyndham Garden Winnipeg Airport, Winnipeg’s first Indigenous-owned hotel.
Supporting Indigenous-owned businesses is one small, tangible action we can take. We encourage others to discover and support Indigenous-owned businesses, organizations and experiences in our community throughout the year.

to one of the best days at the stadium! 🏈💙💛As a big Blue Bombers fan, meeting the guys on the field is always a massive highlight, but Deatrick Nichols truly made Mike's day with this one.This is exactly what being together in the community looks like. Huge shoutout to Deatrick for taking the time to stop, chat, and snap a selfie. Last week, Epic Opportunities had an amazing time at Disability Matters! 💛✨

From the incredible performances to the powerful speeches, the day was filled with celebration, connection, and joy. It was a meaningful opportunity to come together, celebrate disability identity and voice, and recognize the strength of our community.

Our team at Epic Opportunities was honoured to support this event and the self advocates who led it. A big thank you to everyone who joined us on such a hot, sunny day, and to the organizers, volunteers, and everyone who helped make this event such a success!
