Last week, Epic Opportunities had an amazing time at Disability Matters! 💛✨

From the incredible performances to the powerful speeches, the day was filled with celebration, connection, and joy. It was a meaningful opportunity to come together, celebrate disability identity and voice, and recognize the strength of our community.

Our team at Epic Opportunities was honoured to support this event and the self advocates who led it. A big thank you to everyone who joined us on such a hot, sunny day, and to the organizers, volunteers, and everyone who helped make this event such a success!

We had an absolutely amazing time last week during our annual general meeting at Trans Canada Brewing Company Trans Canada Brewing Co. The atmosphere was truly infectious. Our guests had the opportunity to explore various dreams that have come to life over the past year, all while enjoying delicious pizza and beer from Trans Canada Brewing. We shared business updates and celebrated the remarkable year we’ve had, all while connecting.
Furthermore, we took the time to honor award recipients from Inclusion Systems and High Road Property Services Inc., showcasing their incredible community support. Plus! We got the chance to honour and celebrate the advocacy work that Talk It Up! is doing within the community.

Yesterday morning at the Forks, we felt truly grateful to unite with our community supporters. It was a moment to pause, connect, and recognize all we have accomplished together. We had the pleasure of sharing a glimpse of the significant impact our partners have had on our team. With Truth and Reconciliation being a key priority for us, we have been privileged to engage deeply with Renée McGurry, learning from her insights. Today, she provided our group the opportunity to open our hearts, understand our history, reflect on our present, and explore how we can move forward together as allies.

We were also delighted to present an award to Assiniboine Credit Union in recognition of their unwavering support for Epic Opportunities over the years. Whether it has been through providing funds to expand capacity and resources, sponsoring events, or investing in our initiatives, they have demonstrated steadfast commitment to Epic and to building an inclusive community.

This is what community means to us, and our mission is to ensure everyone in the community feels valued. We hope our guests left feeling inspired to learn more and forged meaningful connections with one another. Meet Samuel Oginni! As we celebrate Administrative Professionals Day this week, we wanted to spotlight Sam, the Accounting and Finance Manager for Epic Opportunities! Sam has been a positive and effective presence from day one. His calm and pleasant demeanor, coupled with his diligence and competence, has made him a highly valued member of the administrative team, and he is a great "values" match for the organization as a whole.

Here is Sam’s reflection on working for Epic Opportunities!

“Being the Accounting and Finance Manager at Epic Opportunities means a lot. Strong financial management is what keeps everything running effectively behind the scenes. If the numbers aren’t right, it impacts budgeting, decision-making, and ultimately the programs and services the community relies on. It’s more than just working with numbers, I’m supporting an organization that has a real impact on people’s lives. It keeps things interesting and gives me the chance to add real value.
