‼️Investing in the retention of RVT's means investing in better patient care, stronger teams, and healthier practices ‼️

THE RETENTION THREAT:
Only 50% of RVT's across Canada are satisfied with their salary
Only 58% of RVT's across Canada feel valued in their workplace
Only 59% of RVT's across Canada are satisfied with learning opportunities in their workplace
(RVT compensation survey 2026, Veterinary Technicians & Technologists Council of Canada)

💲High turnover comes at a cost—not just financially, but also in team wellbeing, workflow efficiency, and continuity of patient care. Competitive pay, benefits, predictable schedules, supportive leadership, career development, and recognition can make a real difference in keeping skilled RVT's on your team, and in the industry.

👀 COMPARING THE COST 👀 (via. the Economic cost of burnout in vet med, PMC, 2022)

📉 LOSS FROM TURNOVER: $59,000 CAD per technician resignation (Driven by exit disruptions, recruiting fees, 3–6 months of reduced clinical efficiency, and massive practice vacancy gaps where high-margin tech procedures go unperformed.)

✔ INVESTMENT IN RETENTION: = $11,500 CAD per year (The true cost of providing a competitive, sustainable $5.00/hour equity wage increase, including all payroll tax buffers.)

⚖️ THE MATH THAT MATTERS: By refusing a retention-focused wage adjustment, your clinic risks a net deficit of over $47,500 CAD per departure, plus an exhausted, collapsing team.

👉 THE CAMPAIGN VERDICT: A workforce shortage is an infrastructure failure. Proactive compensation isn't a perk—it's the most cost-effective risk management strategy available to your practice.

💖 Together let’s build veterinary workplaces where skilled professionals feel valued, supported, and empowered to thrive. Because when we retain our people, everyone benefits—including the patients.

Help spread the word! Like and share this post to share appreciation for valued RVTs everywhere.

Tonight, we're lighting the Water Tower blue for Registered Veterinary Technologists (RVTs) Month! 💙🐾

RVTs are dedicated, highly skilled professionals who play an essential role in animal health and welfare. RVTs support veterinarians in many ways, including assisting with surgeries, administering anaesthesia, and more.

Today, let's celebrate the nearly 500 practicing RVTs in Manitoba (with over 70 students in training!) for the important role they play in keeping our furry, feathered, and scaly family members healthy and happy.

Thank you!
