Spent three days last week with an amazing group of administrators committed to doing the work of reconciliation at their university. We spent time on medicine walks, connecting to the Land and helping to remind them that they are not separate from the Land but a part of it. Living this time together surrounded by the birds, the spruce, the water and one another, helped to ingrain the true meaning of reconciliation and why, as Dene, we fiercely love the Lands that we have the responsibility to steward. We focused on the medicines that both the Land and us as humans bring to the world and what that looks like in action. Auntie Behsa opened our hearts, our eyes and our minds to be in good relation with one another with her beautiful songs. Coming back to Yellowknife now feeling happy and at peace.
