We’re celebrating — and you’re invited. 🌿

Join us Saturday, September 5 from 10:00 am–1:00 pm for the Grand Opening + Open House of Rekindle Health and Rekindle Apothecary.

Rekindle began with a belief that good health care considers the whole person and the broader family, community and contexts that shape health.

Rekindle Health is our interdisciplinary clinic and community workshop space. Through a team of practitioners committed to a shared vision of community-based and culturally safe care, we strive to provide compassionate, evidence-informed, and collaborative care to you and your family and across the entire lifespan.

Rekindle Apothecary extends that vision beyond the treatment room, with a thoughtfully curated collection of health and wellness products, alongside plant medicines and other goods that bring a little beauty and care into everyday life.

Together, they share a home built for care, connection, learning and community — and we’re so excited to finally celebrate it with you.

Drop in throughout the morning to:
• explore Rekindle Health + Rekindle Apothecary
• tour the clinic and community workshop space
• meet members of the Rekindle team
• enjoy food from Oak & Olive
• pick up a Rekindle care package — available for our first 20 visitors
• enter a draw for a $250 Rekindle credit

And because the community we serve extends beyond Yellowknife, our celebration will too. We’ll also be offering a second $250 Rekindle credit through an online giveaway so that people across the NWT, including those living in smaller communities, can be part of the celebration. More details coming soon.

This space has been shaped by so many people, including those who have worked alongside us, shared their knowledge, trusted us with their care, encouraged an idea, lent a hand, cared for family members, helped with clinic renovations, shared heir experience with a friend or simply cheered us on.

This day is as much about saying thank you as it is about opening our doors.

We hope you’ll come celebrate with us. 🤍

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5
10:00 AM–1:00 PM
Rekindle Health + Rekindle Apothecary
Yellowknife, NT

Everyone is welcome.

What does care look like in smaller northern communities?

Last week, we had the privilege of spending several days in Fort Smith, a community of just over 2,000 people, on the traditional territories of the Salt River First Nation, Smith’s Landing First Nation, and the Fort Smith Métis people.

We went to provide naturopathic and acupuncture services, but our visit reminded us that providing care in a smaller community is about much more than what happens during an appointment.

It is about showing up. Being part of community while you are there. Listening. Contributing. Building relationships and connections. And coming back.

We felt incredibly honoured to be invited into Fort Smith and so warmly welcomed by the people we met.

We are especially grateful to Red Fox Pharmacy for hosting us and for the extraordinary care they put into supporting their community. They made it possible for us to be there and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived.

And thank you to The Den and Javapunks for sharing such beautiful community spaces for our workshop and keeping us fuelled with great coffee and good eats along the way.

For us, this was never meant to be a one-time visit. Continuity matters, and relationships take time. We are already looking forward to returning and building on the connections that began during this first trip.

Thank you, Fort Smith. We can’t wait to come back. 🤍

Does magnesium fix everything?

It’s a question I was asked recently, and honestly, I understand why.

Trouble sleeping? Magnesium.
Constipation? Magnesium.
Muscle cramps? Magnesium.
Stress? Magnesium.
Headaches? Magnesium.
Hormones? Somehow, also magnesium.

Spend enough time in the wellness space and it can start to sound like magnesium is the answer to just about everything.

Magnesium is an essential mineral, and different forms can be genuinely useful when they are applied appropriately. There are situations where supplementation makes sense, and the form, dose and reason for using it matter.

But magnesium is not a catch-all treatment. And “evidence supports its use for....” is not the same as “everyone should take it.”

Supplements can be useful tools. They shouldn’t replace asking why a symptom is happening, whether supplementation is actually indicated, and what else might need our attention.

Magnesium can be useful with appropriate and informed guidance, but it is not a treatment plan.
