There’s a proverb I keep thinking about:

“A tiger wearing a bell will starve.”( A Mongolian proverb)

A tiger is not weak. It’s powerful, focused, built to survive.
But the moment you tie a bell to its neck, everything changes.
Every step makes noise. Every move gives it away.
And suddenly
the same tiger can’t catch anything.

Not because it lost its strength.
But because it lost its silence.

And honestly, this feels like real life.

Sometimes we rush to talk.
We announce everything we are about to do.
We show every step before it’s even solid.

And without realizing it
we’ve already made noise where quiet was needed.

Plans scatter.
Focus breaks.
Things don’t work out the way we expected.

Not because we’re not capable

but because we exposed things too early.

I’m learning this slowly:

Not everything needs to be shared immediately.
Not every move needs an audience.
Not every plan needs validation.

Some things grow better in silence.

Study quietly.
Build quietly.
Improve yourself quietly.

Let your results be the sound people hear.

Because in the end,
it’s not about how loud you are

it’s about how well you move.

So today reclaim your silence and power.

So, my question is:

Are you moving like a tiger

or are you wearing a bell

Make friends outside your profession.

Not everything should be “my patient this” and “your patient that.” Step outside the hospital conversations sometimes. Breathe a different kind of air.

I’ve learned this in the most practical ways.

One day, a simple conversation with my pharmacist friend saved me from administering the wrong drug. Not because I’m careless, but because we are human, and having people around you who see what you don’t can make all the difference.

Another friend of mine understands the stock market in a way I never did. From random chats, I’ve started seeing money differently, thinking beyond salary, and understanding how to grow what I earn.

Then there’s my theologian friend. The kind of person who sits you down and gently corrects things you’ve believed for years. Not with judgment, but with clarity. Some of the things I thought I knew about faith
 I didn’t. And that’s okay.

That’s the thing

When you surround yourself only with people in your field, you become very good at one world, but blind to many others.

Talk to engineers. Learn from lawyers. Listen to creatives. Follow pages that challenge how you think. Read books and watch things that have nothing to do with your exams.

Because what kind of nurse knows everything about the hospital but doesn’t understand life outside it?

The world is bigger than Nursing.

And honestly, becoming a better human will make you a better nurse.

Hey guys đŸ‘‹đŸœ

I'm Jacinta , a student nurse based in Abuja, and if you're new here, let me tell you exactly what this page is about.

I've always been that person who can't leave someone confused. Like if you're sitting next to me and you don't understand something, I'm not moving until it clicks for you 😂
That's literally how this page started.

Nursing is full of big, heavy concepts that make people either cram without understanding or give up entirely. And that gap ;that moment where someone is lost but just nodding along , that's what I can't stand.

So I come here and I break things down. Simply. Practically. Like we're sitting together and I'm just explaining it to you like a friend.

Whether you're a nursing student trying to actually understand what you're reading, or just someone who wants to know what's going on with their body , this is your space.

No big grammar. No confusing terms. Just real explanations that make sense.

I'm so happy you're here
Follow along ;we're just getting started.

— I am Jacinta

There was a day during my clinical posting that I almost doubted myself.

A patient asked me a question.
Something simple.

But in that moment my mind went blank.

Before I could even explain myself, a senior nurse corrected me sharply in front of everyone. The ward suddenly felt very quiet, and all I could feel was embarrassment.

I kept my composure there
but inside I felt so small.

Later I went somewhere quiet and just stood there thinking.

“Can I really do this?”

People talk about how hard nursing school is academically.
What they don’t talk about enough is how it also stretches your confidence, your pride, and sometimes even your courage.

Some days you walk out of the ward feeling like you failed.

But those days are also the days that shape you.

I am still learning.
Still growing.
Still becoming.

And one thing I promised myself that day is this:

When I become a nurse, I will never forget what it feels like to be a student trying their best.

So if you are a student nurse and you have ever left the ward feeling discouraged, please remember this

You are not alone.
And one difficult moment does not define the nurse you are becoming.

Today is World Kidney Day.

Your kidneys may be small, but they do very big work for your body. They clean your blood, remove waste through urine, control blood pressure, and help keep your body balanced.

Many people do not know they have kidney problems until the damage is already serious.
Take care of your kidneys today:
‱ Drink enough clean water
‱ Control your blood pressure and blood sugar
‱ Avoid abusing painkillers and herbal mixtures
‱ Reduce too much salt in food
‱ Go for regular health checks

Healthy kidneys keep the body alive and strong. Protect them.

Exactly one week ago, we were at Government Secondary School, Old Kutunku, Abuja for Pad a Girl 2.0.

A team of young students nurses came together to educate the girls on menstrual hygiene, proper pad usage and body confidence. Interestingly, these were very smart girls who already had some knowledge about menstrual care. We simply helped to correct a few beliefs and misconceptions they previously held.

We demonstrated how to correctly wear a sanitary pad, answered their questions openly and distributed sanitary pads to support them practically.

Have you ever heard someone say
“If you don’t give birth or breastfeed, you can have breast cancer”?
It’s not just a myth people made up to pressure women. This is what they meant when they said that.

Your breast is made up of cells that respond to hormones especially estrogen.
Every month during your menstrual cycle, a hormone called ESTROGEN stimulates breast cells to grow and prepare for possible pregnancy. When pregnancy doesn’t happen, those cells reduce again.

Now imagine this happening over and over again for many years.
The more menstrual cycles a woman has in her lifetime, the longer the breast tissue is exposed to estrogen. And long term exposure to estrogen increases the risk of abnormal cell growth which can lead to breast cancer.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding help to “rest” the breast tissue.
During pregnancy, ovulation stops, meaning estrogen levels reduce.
Breastfeeding also delays the return of ovulation for some time after delivery.

So in simple terms:
✅ Women who have never given birth
✅ Women who gave birth late
✅ Women who did not breastfeed
May have a slightly higher risk of developing breast cancer compared to women who had children early and breastfed.

This does NOT mean that every woman who doesn’t give birth or breastfeed will develop breast cancer.
It only means the protective effect that pregnancy and breastfeeding give to the breast is absent.

Other factors like genetics, lifestyle, alcohol intake, obesity, and family history also play a role in a person developing breast cancer

Subtle remainder to drink water first thing in the morning.
When you wake up in the morning, your body is naturally a bit dehydrated.
Your mouth feels dry because saliva reduces while you sleep.
Start your day with a glass of water.
It helps stimulate bowel movement and keeps your digestive system moving
Small habits. Big difference.
