I came across this post recently (like I do pretty much every day), a new puppy owner looking for general advice.
🌟 I have decided to help this person for free, to have at least a long distance chat as I really did not want her to make a big mistake in bringing up this pup and her family to have big struggles in the future, I know it's not much, but as a professional I know into what extent I can help long distance.

So this time I decided to look more into the post and doom scrolled through the comments and "advice".
90% of the advice left me startled and there is no wonder why the number of problematic dogs and rise in seriousness of any out of control dogs cases is on the rise!! People take in a random advice of the internet, which often turns out to be the worst one that can be!
This one would be a prime example, good for the person at least looking for an advice, good dog training can be shockingly expensive these days, so doesn't surprise me they first seek help on the Facebook, but for the love of the dogs! Do not take in seriously anything of the type I have circled in red 🙏 Such a recipe for disaster and great for building up strong separation anxiety!

Beside of other facts, like knowing genetics, or as much about the dog's past as possible etc, you need exposure exposure exposure, practise desinsitization and you need to be there for your dog/pup, BUT teaching neutrality at the same time can be extremely important! PLUS much more!

Rescues for example can be a very different story, or messed up lineage by irresponsible breeders.
But nothig is impossible. 🙃🙃

Chews talk!🍖🐶 I get asked very often what should owners get for their dogs and puppies to chew on, what lasts long, is safe and interesting. Way too often I also see people buying rawhides, glued pieces of dried out skin together 😱 things like pedigree dentastix filled with tonnes of nasties!

So here are couple of tips from me on what you can get for your dogs. Tasty, safe, long lasting, technically same price if not cheaper, in the long run, than the very cheap nasty ones! And as long as your dog is well, healthy, no intolerances etc, there is no danger of upset tummies, blockages, or worse.

If you would like more tips regarding treats etc, or how to keep the chews interesting for your dog, why and which branded chews can be very very bad, drop me a message 🙃 as there is more!

⚠️ Snowfakes alert. Any negative comments on "aversive tool" or approach will be ignored.
Little detail improvements and tweakes in behaviour can, very often and in most cases, have benefitial impact in the dog's training. Like here, very bright happy and energetic Maple 😁 her owner is very happy for me to do bits of work with Maple on her weekly walks, as it's very good for her and keeps her extra occupied.
So just a snippet from one of the walks where Maple is being gently, "canine logically" (😄)explained, that hurrying, impatience and flicking her head out of the loop will not result her being let free. Only until she stops hurrying and improves her patience, the reward in the form of release comes 😊. There is muuuch more to it obviously, things are not always as simple as they may seem.

When your looney terrier walks better on the short lead with your child than with you 😂🤷‍♀️ Moony is amazing with kids, and those two had been recently much closer and doing some training bits, not sure what that hand behind from Bella means 😅 not from me, she seems to be making up her own techniques 😅🐶
